From bathrooms to abortions, John Heilemann believes that in his heart, Donald Trump is a social liberal. Heilemann made his assertion on today's With All Due Respect in the context of discussing Trump's comments on a Today town hall this morning in which he was critical of the North Carolina transgender bathroom law, and said he'd have no problem letting Caitlyn Jenner choose any bathroom.
Heilemann: "Trump is probably, I think in his gut, a social liberal. I think his position on abortion, for instance, the ["very pro-choice"] position he held for most of his life, is the real position . . . I think on this issue he's like most Manhattanites or most New Yorkers: he's basically a social liberal."

I believe that Trump is pulling a Nixon. He ran to the right in the primaries and is moving to the Center for the general At heart he’s basically a Rockefeller republican
In his gut Trump is a crony capitalist. That's why he greases the palms of liberals and chooses government solutions to almost every problem.
I'll consider that if you can say the same thing about Rubio.
Hi, Sjb. ,)
This stuff is media tuna bait for TRUMP. As if he had a hand in all the anti-discriminatory law now passed by the Supreme Court, or decisions of state, in North Carolina.
Cruz is such a putz, as if he gives a damn. There is nothing either man can do to reverse the moral destruction of the country, but capture the Supreme Court.
Heck, there will be no greater justice appointed in our future than Scalia, and even he could not stop this transgender/gay rights/gay marriage trend. So, now it’s bathrooms.
PUH-LEEZE.
I couldn’t care less what Heilemann believes.
I do not like the bathroom garbage, but I will be voting for Trump or nobody at all.
~~Go Trump, GO!!~~ ~~Go Trump, GO!!~~ ~~Go Trump, GO!!~~ ~~Go Trump, GO!!~~
We need to not allow these issues to deter us from what we want to do. It’s time to end the corrupt republican leadership. The government has no right meddling in these issues.
Trump is right, NC should have left it like it was. And it’s his hotel, he can allow what ever he wants to there.
Considering the putrid moral rot of this country, with such abject evil and depravity as homo-marriage, my own view is that the house has ALREADY burned down.
America is an ash-heap now. The firemen are too late.
Oooh, dat twicky wabbit....
“Why cant you people accept that Donald wised up too?”
I’ll consider that if you can say the same thing about Rubio.

As a native Texan, don’t you think I’d love a president from my home state? After all, didn’t we give America the wonderful Bushes and LBJ? (sarcasm)
(although it’s debatable if Cruz is actually an American citizen. What if he’s the nominee and at the last minute the rats manage to ‘prove’ he’s not eligible? That’s one thing I fear about Cruz.
Why are his records sealed?)
At first I considered supporting him, but research on Cruz just revealed more than I could accept- not as POTUS.
He is also too soft on amnesty and illegal invaders (who have committed almost 600,000 crimes against Texans alone)
As POTUS, Donald WILL build that wall. If he runs into lawsuits/delays (as he surely will) you can bet he WILL secure the border anyway with enough border patrol to keep the robbing, murdering, raping criminals out.
I just cannot trust Cruz to do this.
I believe Donald when he says he will stop/investigate/deport the thousands and thousands of dangerous muslim ‘immigrants’ (colonists) that Obama has imported to colonize our country to eventually overthrow our system of government and bring it under Sharia law- as commanded by the Koran. I just can’t trust Cruz to do this.
They might make a good team TOGETHER. However; I think Donald can win this no matter who he chooses as his VP running mate.
But if Cruz is the winner, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him. We CANNOT withstand another four years of rats in power.
.
Another four years of rats and we’re done for. Republicans, no matter how corrupt some may be, MUST win this.
.
If on pathway to citizenship you mean his comment on the Today Show to the lady who said, IIRC, her in-laws were undocumented x 25 yrs. didn’t he say, “ you won’t like this, but they’d be deported, and might be able/choose to come back legally, and stressed legally in his reply..
It was one of those vague questions, as in the lady did not mention if the undocumented couple had ever been convicted of a crime. She also threw the natural born citizen phrase out, which Trump saw as a red flag, and questioned her about it.
Oh, and she also plugged her relief effort.
Has Cruz ever given the reason for sealing his records?
Has he given a reasonable explanation for his doing so?
Donald Trump’s life is an open book, and he doesn’t weasel out of questions with some run around the block spouting verbiage answer which he thinks will distract you from the question asked.
That's for sure. You're even confusing Rubio and Cruz. I can see now why why you're so confused abut Trump.
Exactly Rita. Pure drivel.
He might be a social liberals; but he is not a globalist.
