GUTHRIE: Do you believe in raising taxes on the wealthy?
TRUMP: I do. I do – including myself. I do.
That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements. In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.' But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes. Just the opposite. As we've seen on issues such immigration, abortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions. His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy. They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment. Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts. But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all. Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types. Earlier in the answer above, longtime Democratic donor chuckles with multimillionaire celebrity newsman Matt Lauer about all the fancy parties they've attended together with hotshot bankers in New York. Man of the people.

Good for you. Jim has been duped by Trump just like the rest of you. He is no conservative. I will vote for him over Hillary with a clothespin on my nose.
The day's still early yet. Look for his Tweets tonight to walk back and "correct" many of his comments from earlier today.
Let me know if there are any takers. Even trumpers wouldn’t but their money there.
Don’t forget the support for transgenders using whatever bathroom they want
“If Trump is saying that the rich would pay more incomes taxes at the lower rates he is correct.”
That’s not what he’s saying.
He’s saying he wants a surtax on the “rich”.
He’s been saying it for months, but nobody is listening.
Your liberal candidate showed his true colors (again) today...
Look what you have to defend...
Higher taxes... Transgender bathrooms... Abortion... Even amnesty...
And that’s all just TODAY in ONE interview!!!
What on earth are you supporting this charlatan for... He has fooled every single one of his followers...
He offers NOTHING for our side... He is a fake, a liar, a disgrace.
On this - I have to disagree. Trump is more orange. WAY easier to listen too. And his family is way better to look at.
And instead of taking money from Trump (Hillary) He gives money to Hillary. And Hillary doesn't praise trump, like Trump has praised Hillary.
So there a few differences.
“His official tax proposal was written by his handlers and put on his web page. He needs to review it from time to time before he answers questions about it....”
I don’t think Deceptive Donnie reads.
Some of these gotchas are infantile.
Ask Donald about a matter that isn’t even supposed to be Federal policy and then complain that his answer that the old way was okay is somehow pro-crime.
You forgot that he would abolish the IRS and the convoluted tax plan we have now.
“His stances aren’t rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy. They “evolve” and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment. “
Hammer, meet nail.
At this rate, Hillary can probably win by running to the right of The Donald. Pretty funny.
The Trump campaign death spiral began today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He’s stepped in huge piles what? Some 4 times alone today?
1. Pro-abortion.
2. Pro-path to citizenship.
3. Pro-trannie.
4. Pro-tax the rich.
Damn! And the day isn’t even over yet.
(grabbing popcorn)
By the time November rolls around, we will find ourselves wishing that Donald Trump was a Northeastern Rockefeller Republican.
“Not working, baby. I believe Trump. A smarter person wrote up the website.”
“Reducing or eliminating most deductions and loopholes available to the very rich.”
https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/tax-reform
This is such infantile talk.
It’s liberals who crow you are for X if you are not for some law to ban X.
Operation Chaos at its finest.
People don’t want to contribute until they are no longer in fear of being ousted because they don’t support Trump.
That is the only reason I have hesitated so far.
I think the top rate on his website was 15%.
So what is his new high rate? 50%? A millionaires tax?
We know from states like NJ that a ‘millionaires tax ‘ ends being for incomes of 500K and lower— prompting people to move out.
10% wealth tax on assets for billionaires ? would he sell his buildings or pay in kind?
He is for ‘taxing the wealthy’ would be helpful if he tells us what he means, because I honestly dont know.
A 20%$ across the board tariff balance the annual budget tomorrow.
