That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements. In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.' But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes. Just the opposite. As we've seen on issues such immigration, abortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions. His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy. They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment. Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts. But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all. Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types. Do you get everything you ask for? NO, BUT YOU HAVE TO ASK and someone in power has to listen. Trump made promises, if he doesn't do it someone will. The American people want it. Trump is a vehicle that's all. What you brain dead "movement" conservative don't get is this is the beginning of a new era, we are ditching the post Free Trade malaise era.

You know, you are absolutely right. I have to admit I have been very disappointed in some of the FreeRepublic population. There seems to be quite a few that are not conservatives or have very short memories.

Cruzers are so stupid in general that they apparently totally forgot Trump making these same exact statements less than 6 months ago in the context of cutting loopholes and raising taxes on hedge fund managers. But it's a fresh controversy since Cruzers are low info.

On That I have to agree ! Those are some gorgeous women in his family. If I had to guess , but like he said - he brings jobs. just that family must have kept some serious silicone plastic surgeons busy. Not that there is anything wrong with that ;)

The truth is he was extremely critical of Reagan’s tax plans. Yeasterday, I heard a 1991 taped interview of Deceptive Donnie proclaiming how bad Reagan’s top tax bracket of 25% was bad for our country, and that it needed to be increased to provide an incentive for people to invest.
Perhaps that’s why, even in this campaign, he is proposing a tax increase to the “rich”.

What ever you do, do not have an opposing view or dare to take issue with the Donald....
