Okay. I’ve been a Minneapolitan for 30 years. I’ve never heard him referred to as Ron. I know the baby he and Mayte had died of some unfortunate disease at 6 days old to a skull malformation.
What are you saying?

I see lots of comments that the former artist known as Prince was a great guitar player. Thats all relative. Compared to great great guitar players Prince is nominal, and hed be the first to admit it when finding himself in the company of an actual great guitar player like Tommy Emmanuel or Fapy Lafertin. I am not a guitarist, so I'm not going to try and argue who was "best." But when considering Prince's work, he is a good enough guitarist to be compared to the greats. But he goes further than that. His most recent tour was him playing the piano alone. Have Tommy Emmanuel or Fapy Lafertin gone on tour as a pianist?
Also consider his songwriting catalog. Most artists can do a few albums, but then really struggle to keep creating. Prince released a new album almost every year since 1979. That he had any of those skills would make him famous, but having all of those skills made him one of the giants of American music.

Yeah, not really in the camp that views Prince as a great guitarist, though he was definitely good. But, he was that rare combination of songwriter/musician who was above average at both, plus he was a good live performer. Had most of his albums from Controversy through Sign o' the Times. I know Purple Rain sold a ton, but the closest any of the albums from that run came to be being great from start to finish was Sign o' the Times. He always had a few clunkers on his albums, though, mostly forgettable funk workouts or horny ballads. But, at his creative best, he was certainly among the best songwriters from that era. No idea about his work after he became symbol man, though.

Kim dated Prince-Ron because of the drugs he had available. She admitted it.I have 2 friend who knew Ron.They are just asking for prayers.TMZ said it was an OD an opiate 6 days ago his plane landed close to home.I guess he just finished himself off.He and his wife had a severely deformed baby because of the amount of drugs he took. Can you find one song to his dead child in his library. I guess you just want to be a ghoul on this thread. Okay with me. Why do you even bother posting on these threads? Can't resist tearing people down to make yourself feel better? I'm sure you have no shame in your life with your your little 'personal' stories.

LOL. Yes he was.
I still have the Purple Rain album and the poster.
The Hits/The B-Sides 3 CD Box set.
Oh yeah. I loved me some Prince. My husband said tonight he took one look at Prince back in the day and thought he was a fruit. He was never a fan.
Many years ago I saw Prince live at the coliseum in a college town near where we lived. I was supposed to be at the mall. I never told my husband. And I went with his sister ! HA HA !

Thanks!
They should put Prince on the $20 bill, color it purple, and call it “The $19.99”!

Mark Goodman talking about it on SiriusXM.
Goodman was talking about how Twitter was on fire over Prince’s death, and he spoke specifically about a tweet that Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin) posted. Goodman actually seemed shocked that a Republican / conservative would be a Prince fan, let alone listen to mainstream / popular music.
What an a$$hat.

Session work for Glen. Got his chops and connected with Don Felder (and somewhat with Jackson Browne).
