Donald Trump might have rolled to 60 percent of the Republican vote in New York Tuesday night, but he came in a distant third in the big scheme of things nonetheless. Keep in mind, this is the candidate and the campaign that constantly pout about one-man one-vote and popular vote totals.
They threaten to both call the lawyers about this concept and to riot in Cleveland over this. Thus, by Trump's own standards, Trump got thrashed in New York. Both Hillary and Bernie Sanders destroyed Trump in raw vote totals.
I'm not saying Trump didn't win the N.Y. Republican primary big. He did. I'm not even arguing that Trump is cheating to get 90% of the delegates with only 60% of the vote although I could do just that, again using Trump's standards and Trump's own words and Team Trump's talking points. It would be easy. All I'm pointing out is that even in a yuuuuuuuge win, the numbers put the lie to the Donald Trump campaign. This was his best night so far, and yet the seeds of disaster are obvious for any who would but pay attention.
That popular vote total should bring the pom-pom clan back to Earth.
Remember that Trump is supposedly the man who will by his mere presence put blue states, even New York, into play. The message board trolls drone endlessly about this. As do some websites and talk show hosts not to mention the Trump surrogates. Again, by their own self-imposed standard, Trump really got humiliated Tuesday night.
Consider: Hillary Clinton tallied over a million votes. Over three quarters of a million New York voters "felt the Bern." Trump was just over half a million. You say, "Okay okay, but it's New York."

Using this logic Cruz had a FIFTH PLACE finish in FL. How pathetic is that? The Next POTUS finished 5th in FL? Not a chance.
Isn’t it a wonder the way that Cruz and his team can spin things? Totally misleading headline, totally misleading story... and they think that this is somehow going to help? Cruz was mathematically eliminated yesterday from receiving a majority of delegates before the convention. Trump supporters outnumber Cruz supporters by approximately 5 to 1 on this conservative forum. Trump has received millions more votes, he has over 50% more delegates and yet these whiny naysayers are still trying to steal the nomination. It is a wonder to behold.
Ted has one chance at redemption. He could concede and work to unite the party and win the election. But it is not going to happy and we know this because Ted’s true character has been revealed in this primary. Cruz will never out live this crap. He will not be reelected to the Senate. His political career is over.
C Edmund Wright - Wasn’t he banned/suspended here?
Those “Reagan Democrats 2016” you speak of will be returning congressional control to the Don’s friend Chuck Schumer.
And Cruz can win. Seriously.
My wife is a Democrat and voted for Bernie ....
... just because here in NC our primaries are semi closed.
She preferred Rubio but will be voting for Trump in the general election.
There’s many more of folks like her out there.
If you were a registered Dem and wanted to vote for Trump in the primary, you couldn’t. Registered Dems who want to vote for Trump in the general will have that option.
Just a rather important detail.
It’s true. I noticed that first thing:
BERNIE got almost as many votes as Trump, Kasich, and Cruz COMBINED.
HILLARY got WAY MORE votes than all the Republicans COMBINED.
NY is a blue state and will go Hillary in the general.
This is a fact, and there is nothing to say about it, except those are “New York Values.”
(And yes, I cast my vote in Crown Heights.)
Been a few months. IIRC, he thought he could out urinate one of the mods. (may have been JR himself)
Cruz is history, and you shark has been jumped. What a sad, sad little man.
If you were to believe these various anti-Trump posters here on FreeRepublic, a Republican could never win a Presidential election again.
Everything they claim against Trump (as far as the make up of voters) would be true of any Republican candidate.
So why bother?
Because those posting have no more of a clue what is happening then someone trying to predict the future by reading chicken guts.
The only sure thing you can say about the author and the ones who agree with him is that they have a bias and an agenda and it puts doubt on anything they write.
Keep it up, I am beginning to enjoy the way you twist everything to meet your world view. Your efforts are not in vain as they are proving to be entertaining.
Many of those who voted for Hillary or Sanders will actually support Trump in the fall. The numbers the article cites, merely reflect the far greater Democratic registration in New York.
No, I don’t. But I seem to recall a bunch of Cruz supporters crowing about WI for two solid weeks. WI, where Bernie and Hillary got over a million votes (Bernie alone got more than Cruz) while Cruz got 531,000.
Yet I don’t recall people crapping all over that win because Hill and Bern crushed Cruz.
BTW, Cruz won’t win WI either.
The hysteria over NY, and trying so hard to diminish what Trump did there, just reeks of desperation.
(1) It was a closed primary. (2) The main interest was the competitive race between Hillary and Bernie, so that pumped up the Democrat turnout. Trump was totally expected to win the Republican primary.
Duh? Still haven't figured it out yet? That is because, generally speaking, NY Republicans are not conservative. Their no different than the Democrats except they go to church on Sundays and spend a lot more time in the confessional.
Truly love the twisting of numbers to justify a position.
In this district, approximately 12% of the electorate are registered Republican. Likely, many of those are Liberals.
Isn’t Lord Wright banned from FR?
“C. Edmund Wright continues to make a damn fool of himself.”
That he does. Ever see a pic of him? I’ve never seen anyone whose eyes are so close together. Very strange looking...
***Posting an articles of a zotted FReeper? LOL. Good one.***
His articles should be banned. I’m glad to hear he’s gone. I’ve never seen anyone more in love with their self than that guy.
