(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."
"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.
"That is correct," Trump said.
Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.
"Leave it the way it is," he said.
"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."
Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.
"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."
Believe he meant NC shouldn’t have passed the most recent law.
Leave who to decide? You mean the man with a skirt/ pedophile who goes into women’s bathrooms to abuse girls? They should be able to decide? Really?
Did you not see the news article out of the west coast ( Seattle I think) where a group of women and girls had to deal with a man who came into a female changing room at a pool and exposed himself. When the police were called they said there was nothing they could do. Is this what we have decided as a society? Really?

It’s hard to feel sympathy for North Carolina. Government should not be dictating which potty to use. Businesses should be allowed to set their own rules as they see fit.
The article wasn’t written out of whole cloth, the man said these things.
It’s too late. What do you think Trump would do if he was denied the candidacy at this point?

Seems like if we say we are against men going into women’s bathroom, we run the risk of being against Trump.
It is already too late. He has cinched the nomination. ( anyone saying anything different is just trying to get ratings by creating drama) For better or for worse Trump is what we’ve got.
Transgender is what anyone in the perversion game wants it to be. There really isn’t a clearly defined accepted definition of it. It’s the reason why you see most of the homosexuals on Jerry Springer acting like women telling the poor men they’re fooled into thinking they’re a woman “I was born a male”.
Says absolutely nothing definitive to hide the fact they have a some junk still swinging between their legs.
He made no such qualifications. He specifically mentioned Bruce Jenner (I refuse to call him Caitlyn), who has not had the surgery, and said he would be fine with Jenner using the women's bathroom in one of his buildings.
He also said to have separate bathrooms available for the confused (I also won't call them "transgender") would be, in his words, "discriminatory".
Again, last fall and into winter I really liked Trump a lot.
I ignored conservative friends telling me he was a misinformed liberal dope who was pandering to our side just to get votes.
The fact he’s not taking a stand on the bathroom bill again reaffirms my decision to switch support from Trump to Ted Cruz.
The bathroom bill is the one line in the sand we need to hold firm on. And the country will support us on this even if “Bruce Springsteen” disapproves.
It is obvious to me that any facility having public restrooms should remodel them all into private entry, single person efficiency bathrooms. Then, like at the little league park, the port-o-let is either occupied or it isn’t.
It is TOO EASY a fix.
Correct. There isn’t any way that Oberfell is going to be repealed, that ship has sailed. I believe the same is true about abortion, without a fifth conservative justice, the TRAP laws are probably going to fall this summer. And they were the last best hope.

I suppose it could be worse. He could be pushing to ‘fundamentally transform’ public bathrooms everywhere to cater to the .03 percent of the population at the expense of the 99.97 percent, the vast majority of other Americans.
Then again, maybe he’s just thinking of his own personal ‘bottom line’ incurred costs of having to do that in all of his properties. Whatever works.
