Donald Trump professed his love for waterboarding during a campaign rally in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday calling it great.
While discussing ISIS, Trump said, Now were living in medieval times. Were weak, were ineffective.
After slamming Ted Cruz for his weak, pathetic answer at a debate regarding waterboarding, Trump said, They asked me, What do you think about waterboarding, Mr. Trump? I said I love it. I love it, I think its great. And I said the only thing is, we should make it much tougher than waterboarding, and if you dont think it works folks, youre wrong. But you know, there are laws, we have laws that we have to abide by.
So I say were going to have to strengthen the laws and toughen up the laws, and were going to have to make ourselves tougher because they can chop off heads, they can drown people in steel cages, Trump argued.
ISIS can put people in steel cages by 25 and 50 people and drop them in the water and pull them up an hour later and we cant waterboard, Trump fumed. How stupid are we? How stupid are we?
Illegal combatants are, under the Laws of Land Warfare, subject to summary execution; put them up against the wall and shoot them dead.
Would that make you happier?
It’s OK to shoot them dead, but not OK to waterboard them?
Yes.
>> nobody is advocating waterboarding lawful combatants <<
You are obviously well informed on the issue. Thanks for your input!
But now, it would be interesting to know if Mr. Trump has any understanding here. My bet is that he doesn’t have a clue, and moreover that he doesn’t care one whit about the distinctions you have so ably delineated.
Dude! There was s a difference between lawful combatants and jihadist!! Now go away!!
That shuts his NeverTrump mouth - every time. :)
Thank you for your input. I appreciate learning from those with first hand experience.
Just watched a video of him talking about it on the stump, was about 90 seconds. He seems to be basing his position on knowledge and research and making a sound moral argument I can find no fault with.
Surf’s up!
> At the SERE school and in the DoJ opinion, the subject’s airflow is disrupted by the firm application of a damp cloth over the air passages; the interrogator applies a small amount of water to the cloth in a controlled manner. By contrast, the Agency interrogator ... applied large volumes of water to a cloth that covered the detainees mouth and nose.
SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER ?????
When I was in SERE, they had 3 guys standing ready, each with a 5 gallon pail of ice water. They put a nasty gray tee-shirt over my face and mouth and then poured the ice water from the pails over the rag. The rag makes it so you can’t see what’s coming and can’t adjust your breathing to take a breath between buckets. A small amount of water is not 15 gallons.
It took 15 gallons? You must have successfully resisted for four or five minutes. Sounds like a record.
> You must have successfully resisted for four or five minutes. Sounds like a record.
No, they timed us. I got to 75 seconds. And yes, there was a lot of water; pouring from a pail involves a lot more water that getting it from a hose.
Part of the process, was timing us and medical staff watching so that we didn’t drown.
It took 75 seconds, because it took that long to vocalize “stop” to the instructors. I probably gave up in under a minute, but I couldn’t get the words out with all the water coming in. I think I was about average for the SERE trainees.
Such an unhappy person-prayers for you.
“No, they timed us. I got to 75 seconds.”
Were you able to “signal” out when you reached your limit?
“Like Senator Cruz, I dont love it. But like Ted, I think its sometimes necessary. In fact, Im willing to do a lot more to these terrorists. Its about protecting our country and saving lives.”
So touching, TBP - if it were true. Did you get permission from Aulakh, Sekhon, and Awatar to make these posts? Or, is this just telling non-Muslims what they want to hear? After all, you used to be the biggest apologist for the Pakis and ISI on FR till not too long ago.

This is a smear and you know it.
I don’t think there is yet another poster in the history of FR who put out a press release celebrating the Pakistani launch of a nuclear-tipped missile system - and further posted that on this forum without disclosing the author’s affiliations.
Sound familiar?
