Following his win in Tuesday’s New York State Republican presidential primary, party front-runner Donald Trump addressed his supporters declared that it wasn’t much of a race anymore between he and opponent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and that he was glad to have won delegates “with the votes.”

There is enough of a race that Trump does not need to lose focus.

1237 baby, don’t let up until you it in hand!

“Nobody should be given delegates, which is a ticket to victory, and it’s not a fair ticket. And even though we’re leading by a lot and we can’t be caught–it’s impossible to catch us–nobody should take delegates and claim victory unless they get those delegates with voters and voting, and that’s what’s going to happen. And you watch. Because the people aren’t going to stand for it. It’s a crooked system, it’s a system that’s rigged, and we’re gonna go back to the old way. It’s called ‘You vote and you win.'”

While the NY VOTE was on going, "Senator Cruz" was in PA, trying to garner delegates and his mouthpiece even said he could get the most delegates, even if he comes in LAST place during the up coming VOTE.

Senator Cruz, nahhhh, lyin', cheaten' ted.

It’s true. Trump assured himself of at least 1100 delegates going into the convention last night. That’s approx. the tipping point as it means his rival can have no more than 850. It becomes academic at that point to wheel and deal for the needed unbound delegates.

But that’s worst case scenario. More likely Trump has 1200-1300.

It’s a fantasy for Cruz supporters to believe that Trump fails to get the needed 1237 on the first ballot. Especially after last nights blowout. Deals have probably already been made with Kasich and Rubio (by the Trump team).

The GOP may dislike Trump but they positively detest Cruz. They will make a deal with Trump and hope for the best.

Was it in PA where Cruz said that bizarro comment about America being best when she’s flat on her back on the mat?

Cruz could very well be a very tiny island in a Trump ocean called the northeast.

I just went through and pretty conservatively assigned delegates to Trump based on the upcoming primaries. There were a lot of states that I gave him zero delegates — and I STILL came away with him only needing 65-70 California delegates to get to 1,237.

What the hell is going on with writers nowadays. Have they lost their grasp on the language.

Between HE?

Trumps message of crooked system and the fact that Cruz in now
mathematically out of it will resonate with American voters.

This is what happens when online writers try to make a deadline. Not surprise.

I’d like him to have 1300+ just in case some of the Cruz/GrOP-E plants for a second vote decide to take a sick day or something.

It would be a tragedy for him to have gotten this far in the race and then stumble or be sabotaged at the end. Also I’d rather that Trump not be held hostage be Rubio and Kasich for a VP slot

Mr Trump has rewritten how political campaigns are conducted in the US. He has spent less money than probably any major candidate since Nixon or Carter. He’s used easily available social media and played the press like a video game.

Even his detractors have to admit, this was a ground breaking campaign.

It has also been the most political fun I can remember since 1984

Cruz will end up with nothing.

And return to the senate a more deminished and hated man than before.
He only has shutting down the GOV every 6 months or so to look
forward to.

He probably won’t even serve out the rest of his term.

Will end up at a lobbying firm or Goldman Sachs.

....And in a special way if it ends up that Trump goes from “Mr.” to “President”, it may not be a friendly meet-up.

And I can tell you, those government shutdowns over failing to pass a budget are not popular among the ordinary people who work for government!

We will find out the sort of man Sen. Cruz is, in the next few days.

A wise man would have called DJT tonight, privately, and tried to leverage himself for another position (perhaps SCOTUS) in exchange for getting out of the race. Cruz is only about 44 years old; he has many elections ahead of him, provided he preserves his future electoral chances (and the party) now. Cruz must surely know that a contested convention leads to certain election defeat for the GOP — history tells us this. His choice right now is hero or zero.

If he stubbornly stays in, he will lose even if he wins. Because the GOP will lose and Hillary will win. The voters will neither forget nor forgive him for this.

And he’ll end up with a well-funded primary opponent for his Senate seat.

Trump should drive the message that Cruz has been eliminated, and he should also direct his heavy artillery at Hillary. Release a hailstorm of ads highlighting her dishonesty, her total lack of real concern for women, i.e., her total silence on the Muslim rapefest, the 60-80 percent of women and girls being raped on their way across our southern border, etc. Put her and keep her on the defensive.
