Hai LUV,

I never heard of a german dinner. I suppose I should be pleased my knowledge of tv dinners is not that extensive.

You are a Turkey Dinner Tradition and family mean a great deal to you. You love Thanksgiving because it brings everyone together. Why have that warm experience just once a year? Cranberry sauce and gravy is for life, not late November. |

TV Dinners
By ZZ Top
TV dinners there’s nothin’ else to eat
TV dinners they really can’t be beat
I like ‘em frozen but you understand
I throw ‘em in and wave ‘em and I’m a brand new man oh yeah!
TV dinners they’re goin’ to my head
TV dinners my skin is turnin’ red
Twenty year old turkey in a thirty year old tin
I can’t wait until tomorrow.... and thaw one out again oh yeah!
TV dinners I’m feelin’ kinda rough
TV dinners this one’s kinda tough
I like the enchiladas and the teriaki too
I even like the chicken if.... the sauce is not too blue.
And they’re mine, all mine, oh yeah
And they sure are fine.
Gotta have ‘em
Gimme somethin’ now.

Hi Luv!
The quiz says I’m a Turkey dinner. OK, fine. But the really interesting question was “What TV character would you like to have dinner with?” When I saw the option of Sgt. Hanz Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes, I had to laugh. When I was very young, John Banner, who played Sgt. Schultz, was a house guest of neighbor friends of my parents, and we did go over there for dinner.
So yes, one question I already had scratched off the list.

I have always liked those fried chicken dinners. Nuke them until they are like rubber. Mmm Mmm. But some time in the last few years, they stopped using actual chicken with bones and instead use a McNugget like substitute. Not good, IMHO.
My Grandmother used to make her own version of the TV dinner using left-over aluminum trays she made my Mom save. She would NEVER threw out anything like that.

I really liked the TV dinners that came in the aluminum tray that you heated in the oven. The microwavable TV dinners we have today suck. Tiny portions and I can never get them to cook right. One part is always still cold while another part is over cooked.

Gods Way
April 20, 2016
They were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible.
Numbers 7:9
We really needed to hear from God. Having been asked to foster two young children as an emergency measure just for 3 months, a decision had to be made about their future. With three older children of our own, becoming foster parents to preschoolers didn't seem to fit with our life plan and having our family almost double in size had been hard work. Our book of daily readings by the veteran missionary Amy Carmichael directed us to some unfamiliar verses in Numbers 7.
"I wonder how the Kohathites felt?" Amy wrote. "All the other priests had ox-carts to carry their parts of the tabernacle through the desert. But the sons of Kohath had to trudge along the rocky tracks and through the burning sand, with the 'holy things for which they were responsible' on their shoulders. Did they ever grumble inwardly, feeling that the other priests had an easier task? Perhaps! But God knows that some things are too precious to be carried on ox-carts and then He asks us to carry them on our shoulders."
My husband and I knew this was our answer. We had often thought of sponsoring a child from an undeveloped country, but we hadn't done so. That would have been easier, much like the ox-cart. Now we had two needy children in our own home to carry "on our shoulders" because they were so precious to Him.
God has different plans for each of us. We might feel that others have an easier assignment, or a more glamorous role to play. But if our loving Father has handpicked us for our task, who are we to whisper, "I can't do this"?
God uses ordinary people to carry out His extraordinary plans.
When we read the books of Leviticus and Numbers, we may wonder why so much detail is given about laws, the construction of the tabernacle, and the provisions for the "holy things." It may seem unimportant for our understanding of the text. Much detail is also recorded about the garden of Eden in Genesis and the New Jerusalem in Revelation. The details capture the beauty of what was required for God to dwell with His people. J.R. Hudberg

WELCOME TO THE FR
Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning
Thank you, Luvy, for preparing the Canteen
for today's activities.
YOU ARE A FRIED SHRIMP DINNER
You have crinkle-cut fries yet no dessert,
as if to proclaim, "I'm an adult now but who says
I can't have a little fun in my life?"
You are coastal, comforting, and a little bold.
Why not dip a french fry in the cocktail sauce? It's right there.
Ok, shrimp TV dinner sounds good.
However, unlike some, I don't like cocktail sauce,
so I'd probably use Frank's Sweet Chili sauce;
nothing on the fries or maybe mustard.
Well, it decided to get really hot in the same week
as we are having a heat pump installed.
We needed a new a/c unit and so we upgraded
to add a heat pump system with our oil backup.
The crew will be showing up soon to begin the work,
which, thankfully, we're cooler this morning.
Since I won't be able to do much in the house while they work,
I may find myself at the Canteen most of the day ;)
For now, I need to get a couple of things done before they show up.
I'll be back.
The Canteen is
Come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS
REMEMBER THEM
DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM
FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
