A WNBC/WSJ/Marist poll released April 15 shows Trump with 54 percent support of Republican primary voters. Ohio Gov. John Kasich is in second place with 21 percent and Sen. Ted Cruz with 18 percent.

ABC News political analyst Matt Dowd said that it seems pretty clear that Trump is going to win the state, and he could stand to pick up a sizable amount of the state's 95 delegates.

"If he picks up north of 75 [delegates], he has a real path to 1,237," Dowd said, referring to the number of delegates a Republican...

“that his more interested in WINNING AT ALL COSTS even at the expense of DIVIDING the Republican Party”

That is 100% a correct assertion. Cruz will never get out. He thinks the GOPe will throw him the nomination on the second ballot and he’s right. If this happens Cruz will be behind hundreds of delegates entering the convention and millions of voters to Trump. But you see he thinks he was sent from heaven to be US president, after all his old man told him so. If Cruz ends up with the nomination Hillary Clinton is the next president, and that’s exactly what the GOP wants. Anyone but Trump is fine with them, even a democrat that will continue to destroy the country and who will get to nominate probably 4 Supreme Court Justices in the next four years. As long as their jobs are safe the republicans in Wash, DC could care less who’s in the White House.

Totally sick.

Cruz cares about the country which is why he’s staying in.

Donald Trump would be a horrible president but even if that were not so, he cannot win.

What is the satisfaction to you trumpers in nominating a man who will go down in flames to Hillary Clinton?

“His name is not Trump”.

The huge crowds all over the country tell a much different story. Never forget it’s the one the media says can’t win is the one they are scared of. The one they say can win is the one who can’t win. Cruz has absolutely no way to get democrats to vote for him. He’s a one trick pony and not very good at that. He likes to think that conservative evangelicals are his bread and butter but Donald Trump put that to rest by stomping Cruz all over the South and carried conservative evangelicals with him, not Cruz. Cruz also has no chance of carrying Florida or Ohio. Trump does. Trump would carry Texas. You think for one minute that Cruz could carry NY? Trump would have a great chance. Trump can also get cross over voters, Cruz can’t. Don’t fool yourself. The GOP wants Cruz to run against Clinton because they know he can’t beat her and they’re fine with her as president. It’s business as usual.

Trump under performs on polls when matched against the RCP average. Sometimes by up to 5 points. (I ran the numbers prior to WI, and haven’t checked since.) I think he’ll get over 50%

Cruz overperfomed in all but one state and by plenty (again, before WI...)
Tomorrow may be interesting but I expect the call for trump early.

I think he cares too much to drop out.

Rightly or wrongly many, including myself, think trump will be a disaster. I am biased and I understand that bias clouds things. And before people start with the “So you think Hillary is better” screed, no I do not. She is a different kind of disaster.

All of the candidates are human and therefore far from perfect. I’ll take the guy who has an actual record of standing by his words.

That isn’t meant to be an insult to you or anyone else - it’s just where I stand.

Trump supporters can’t be bothered to do anything other than go to rallies when trump is in town and vote when it’s most convenient. (so far)

I’d be surprised if you can get them to send letters.

Now, I know that sounds insulting. I apologize for the offense. Be involved - send the letters, attended the party caucuses.

You are SO wrong, it is funny; I laugh so hard, AT you, it's a wonder you can't hear me.

No matter how many polls you find that claim that Hillary will beat Trump, I can guarantee you that they and YOU are 100% wrong! Teddy will NOT be the nominee nor shall he EVER be president; THANK GOD! Besides the fact that he isn't eligible, he would be a LOUSY president, but he'll never make it that far.

Yes, the denial is thick here, amongst you Cruzites, who refuse to see reality. he is the ONLY GOPer who can beat Hillary or ANY Dem candidate.

I shut up for most of today, because I just wanted to enjoy the "pre misery" show of cruzery based bravado... This day, IF TRUMP WINS, it spells doomsday for the campaign of the "traitor" to the cause (that word "t" is according to Jim). It will accomplish several incredible things: And we will have a really clear picture of it, by this time tomorrow night.

Wouldn't surprise me if the powers that be stage a crisis tomorrow, to try and take the steam out of what is going to happen.

And the other side of the coin is this... hillary may be wiped out by what is headed her way.

a lot of fateful directions will be clarified in the next 24 hours.

absolutely... that would be more entertaining than our own internal food fight... as fun as that is...

the deliciousness of her getting “schlonged” by 78 year old geriatric patient Bernie... is just too overwhelming to contemplate.

Cruz cares about the country which is why he’s staying in.

Let me just say that his behavior tells me otherwise. He's a scam artist.

Donald Trump would be a horrible president but even if that were not so, he cannot win.

Of all the candidates running, Trump actually understands things like economics, the crushing burden of government regulation, how to pull together the right people to get things done, etc. He is a high-level business executive, and as such actually has the skills, education, and experience to make the case that he is best suited to step into the top executive office of the country.

Of the other three serious contenders, there are two lawyers, neither of whom have the education or experience to even understand how burdensome the tangled mess of laws and regulations are to the common person, neither of whom has any experience in the real world. I really don't care that one of them is good at spouting conservative pablum--being able to talk a good conservative game does not equate to having job qualifications. May I point out that lawyer presidents have NOT done very well. Do you think lawyers Clinton and Obama were great presidents?

What is the satisfaction to you trumpers in nominating a man who will go down in flames to Hillary Clinton?

There is absolutely none, which is another reason Cruz should not be the nominee. He is handing the Democrats the exact ammunition they need to utterly trounce him in an election. He can't win an honest primary, and he will get no crossover votes.

I want a man going into the presidency who is not a career politician or lawyer, who understands the real world. And I have thought for a long time that we need more businessmen in politics, because, frankly, politician lawyers have run the country into the ground. Businessmen would certainly not have elevated our debt into unsustainable territory, nor would they keep feeding massive programs/agencies that don't even do what they are supposed to do--even if they were constitutional, which many of them aren't.

Rightly or wrongly many, including myself, think trump will be a disaster. I am biased and I understand that bias clouds things. And before people start with the “So you think Hillary is better” screed, no I do not. She is a different kind of disaster.

Among other skills, the presidency needs someone who understands economics and who knows how to surround himself with the best possible advisors. Top level executives, such as Trump, have to develop those skills in order to become top level executives.

Of the other top contenders, two are lawyers. Neither of them have real world experience, so they have absolutely no empathy for the people who have to live under the massive legal burden that lawyer politicians have saddled us with. And they'll just keep adding more laws, more regulations, more burden. The fact that one spouts conservative pablum and the other spouts liberal pablum is irrelevant--neither of them have the experience or qualifications that would suggest they would be good in an executive position. In addition, Cruz's campaign has been such a disaster--the fiasco in CO recently, the Nat'l Enquirer allegation that he never denied, etc.--that he has no chance in a head to head with Hillary.

I have, for a long time, thought that we need more businessmen and other professionals in government, not career politicians. You will have a hard time convincing me otherwise. We finally have someone running who understands the government from a citizen, not a politician, perspective.

54% is not as dominating as it should be. Trump could very easily slip below the figure, or fail to achieve that in a significant number of districts.

SC was called almost the minute the polls closed, the same thing in Florida. I expect the minute the polls close we will see this “CNN is projecting Donald Trump will win the New York Primary.” Fox might beat them to it.
