In the Republican presidential primary in New York, the Sun urges a vote for Senator Ted Cruz. It hasn’t been our normal practice to endorse in the primaries, but this year the vote, set for Tuesday, will take on outsized importance as we career toward a contested convention. The junior senator from Texas has emerged from a crowded field by dint of his fidelity to principles — limited, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a strong foreign policy — that couldn’t be at higher premium. They are the true New York Values.

Cuomo, Deblazio and all the other liberal democrats that have virtually complete control over the state and city of NY, believe in the opposite. NY state is a prime example of how democrats have driven a state, which was once a great state, to its' knees.

Tuesday night is going to be interesting. There’s a certain reluctance in NY today to openly be against Trump, partly because of Cruz’s “New York values” comment, and partly because Trump has built so many projects in the city. It’s truly his home state.
Still, both moderate and conservative GOP voters are likely to have concerns about Trump, concerns that they might not be inclined to voice openly given the present atmosphere. I wonder if he will underperform his polling as a result.
Maybe he will come in strong, I don’t know, but if he does underperform that will very likely influence voters in the rest of the NE states a week later, so there could be a lot riding on the NY results.
