Cruz is the Smartest: The Delegate Hunt (John Batchelor--AUDIO)
The John Batchelor Show ^ | 14 April 2016 | The John Batchelor Show (audio link)

AUDIO LINK (40 MINUTE SEGMENT)

“Cruz's roots: Asked by (Anderson) Cooper if he was more a product of the Northeast or Texas, Cruz chose the Lone Star State.

"When I went off to Harvard Law School my dad jokingly referred to it as missionary work," Cruz said.

Cruz had completed his undergrad studies at Princeton University by then, becoming the first member of his family to attend an Ivy League school.

"To be admitted to Princeton was an extraordinary thing," he said. "It was a world, frankly, that I didn't know. When I arrived there it was a scary place. You had a lot of young people who were the children of CEOs and titans on Wall Street and people with fame and wealth and power."

_____________

Mr. Trump’s biggest challenges are five well-educated congressional districts near or including Manhattan — the 9th, 10th, 7th, 12th and 13th Districts.

The 12th District’s white voters, which includes the Upper East Side, are the best educated in the country; the 13th, which includes most of Manhattan north of 96th Street (but not Columbia University), ranks fifth. Mr. Trump has tended to struggle in areas like these: He lost the affluent white wards on Chicago’s north side to John Kasich.

Indeed, the model estimates that Mr. Trump will lose several of these New York City districts to Mr. Kasich or perhaps Ted Cruz. Whether that happens matters a lot: New York City may not have many Republicans, but it has a lot of congressional districts. If it turns out that Mr. Trump is weak here, it could prevent him from getting much more than 80 delegates, even if he’s easily clearing 50 percent statewide.

But Mr. Trump could do better here than one would guess from the area’s demographics. These areas are heavily Democratic — it’s possible that the Republican voters in these areas are nothing like the overall population of white adults (the model uses census data for non-Hispanic whites, since Republican voters are overwhelmingly white).

Yes, all of us remember how the “smartest” people got us into Vietnam.

The OSS was chock full of smart people and we won World War II.

If his morality quotient was as high as his intelligence quotient we would have the perfect candidate.

Smart People already know the election is over and Trump will be the nominee

Smart people tend not to protest because it does no good

Trump wins these districts easily

Yup, and the same sort are meddling in Syria today.

No one ever remembers the important lessons of history.

As always money is in large part the reason for such madness.

You’re not sayin’ Cruz is a yella-back dog for stuff like he did to Corey Lewandowski, are you? This is my shocked face!

Cracking the Enigma machine won World War II in North Africa and Europe. The Atomic Bomb won the war in the Pacific. Smart people doing technical work helps. “Smart” people doing politics and foreign policy, not so much.

Yes. But. What was your impression of the audio link? It gets good about 10 minutes into it and traces back Cruz' team's work on mining big data and creating a powerful ground organization adapted not only the the differing state party rules, but a political marketing campaign down to the idiosyncrasies of the precinct level. Quite remarkable. I believe that is what is meant by "smart" in this context and that Trump was also catching on to this critical element of delegate selection by midstream bringing on Paul Manafort to extract his bacon from the fire after some humiliating state selection losses.

Check out the video. I think it adds to this debate of "comprehensiveness" vs. "unfair".

The OSS was involved in almost all aspects of the fighting, including politics and the post-war occupation.

Por favor. Re: the audio link here above: One of the best recent analytical interviews in a long time to get into exactly what Cruz and his boys have up their sleeve. Don’t any of the good people here w/ the Trump side want to hear this rich information and then hash it out on this thread? If I were tactical (and one had better be) why that’s what I’d try to do. Anyways... For what it’s worth

Yeah, Trump thinks he’s pretty smart too. But I’ve got just one question. If Trump thinks he’s so damn smart, why ain’t he rich?

I think what else it adds to, is the reality that he’s been campaigning for president in the background ever since he set foot in DC and ‘serving’ as Texas’s senator was a pretense. He wasn’t even honest enough to admit to Texans, much less the Tea Party, that he was a Canadian when he ran for the Senate and earlier, for Solicitor General (which calls into question the legality of criminal cases he prosecuted). Cruz is not an honest man. And that is why he’s so vengeful about a Trump challenge - he thought he had all the angles covered, and the election all sewed up before he announced - and then Trump happened. A vengeful man does not a good president make.

Bound delegates are bound delegates they are required to vote for the person they are sworn and bound to on the first, and in some cases 2nd and third ballots

Here is the thing, there will be no 2nd or 3rd ballot

The RNC is scared now, they just saw the backlash of what they did in Colorado, Colorado was a testing ground to see if they could steal an election and get away with it.

The result was not good. You have to remember, stopping Trump will cost these people the party, what good is a party with no voters? Can’t win an election without voters.
That becomes a major problem
