Trump campaign manager will not be prosecuted, sources say
Politico ^

A Florida prosecutor has decided not to prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager for battery after a March run-in with former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, sources with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO.

The decision not to press charges against Corey Lewandowski is scheduled to be announced on Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.

Fields may still pursue a defamation case against Lewandowski, a source said.

Fields filed a police report last month after Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of Trump’s way following a press conference at Trump National Gold Club in Jupiter. She said he left bruises on her arm. Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.

Aronberg would not comment, but in a POLITICO interview last week, he pointed out that Jupiter police had a low “probable cause” standard to cite Lewandowski for battery. But the responsibility for moving forward with a full-blown prosecution rested with Aronberg’s office, which had to consider whether a crime occurred and whether they believed a jury of Floridians would prosecute.

“We have a higher standard to go forward with a prosecution,” he said.

Pressing charges against Lewandoski was a way to undercut the Trump campaign. Now that Trump has hired additional qualified personnel to assist in his National campaign, any strategy to take out Corey is now pretty ineffective.

In this case and investigation, Lewandowski wasn't arrested either. Yes, there was an accusation, but that's all. The accusation still exists, accusations never "go away," they are either acted on, which amounts to charging and proceeding to trial or plea bargain, or not acted on.

Like if the cops have probable cause to pull you over on suspicion of DUI. You get pulled over. They had probable cause. They figure out you were herding your cat, not drunk. You drive away. They still had probable cause, that never goes away.

I don't know if the public distinguishes between "accused" and "charged." I think it does. I think the public views "charged" as more serious than "accused." The press reported for days that Lewandowski was charged with a crime. He'll survive. Over-reaching claims is pretty common. Probaly more common than honest claims.

This is the parsing and twisting dishonesty so many Cruzbots engage in that is disingenuous and off putting from folks cloaked in Christianity’s mantle

I think recently he has said Please go Cruz.

Yes he did. Another Freeper updated me. So far, JimRob is understanding of those of us who remain Cruz supporters. If need be, I'll take a break and come back after the convention.

I maintain the old JimRob position of "Go Cruz!", "Go Trump!"

“In this case and investigation, Lewandowski wasn’t arrested either”

Yes he was arrested:

“He was arrested and released with a Notice to Appear,” said Officer Adam Brown, a spokesman for the Jupiter police. “

“Any organization that would employ her forfeits any claim to journalistic integrity.”

That is correct. Also considering her past history.

Any person willingly being in the same surroundings at her forfeits any claim to common sense (you maybe accidentally ‘batter’ her).

Yeah, basic stuff like that.

I fear for our country when people on FR don’t seem to get little things of that nature.

But I am saying that a decision to not prosecute is NOT the same as saying he was innocent.

In our system of justice a person is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty or that person makes an admission of guilt.

I believe the video was responsible for any charges of prosecution being dropped, if you watched it you must surely understand.

Now what did you say about innocence?
