Captain obvious here again, but NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way. We all have our favorites, but don't lose sight of the mission.
The mission on FR is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!!
It's a lot bigger than you or me or our personal opinions or egos. It's about the very survival of our nation and the promise of freedom for future generations.
Reagan said that freedom is never more than one generation from extinction and he was 100% correct.
President Clinton or President Sanders means the end of freedom in America.
Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!
Free Republic will support our Republican nominee whoever he is against the godless Marxist/socialist Democrats in November!!
#NeverHillary
My tagline has been updated.
The thought of ‘immigrant Affairs’? Hmmmmmm, a Freudian slip? HUma, ValJar?? Hmmmmmm? :-)
Ok, so when should a candidate drop out? When they are mathematically eliminated?
Thank you for the reminder. Bears repeating, probably daily.
bravo!

Cruz has lost it fair and square and should step aside for the sake of the country.
If his continued efforts at thievery split and destroy the party, well be saddled by Hillary or burned by Bernie.

Cruz lost the primary vote and is now aiding and abetting the enemy (the GOPe)
in their treasonous attempt to deny the nomination to the winner.
Cruz is a sore loser turned traitor against the grassroots voters.
And the foolish neophyte thinks the GOPe is going to let him have a shot at the presidency if he helps them block Trump?
Laughable if it wasnt so serious.

Great question.
Before any candidate has 1237 is too early, for sure. Would be sorta like a MLB team with less runs not playing the ninth inning.
>>2-For the benefit others - This does not obligate Cruz to quit in the middle of the game.
I agree with the OP. We must have Trump or Cruz (or Trump AND Cruz) as the GOP nominee or all is lost.
You are right. It is not time for Cruz to quit just because he in second place. There’s still a lot of delegates left. But, if we are getting down to the wire and one of them has a significant advantage over the other, that’s when #2 needs to get on board with #1 and defeat the GOPe before the convention begins.
That’s not how the game works.
We never would have had Eisenhower or Lincoln had it been.
A candidate should drop out if they have ZERO chance of winning the nomination.
Kasich is a fine example of this. Zero chance of rallying enough delegates at the convention. Period.
Cruz on the other hand has a SOLID shot at it. Obviously if Trump secures the nomination, its a moot point. But if not...
We don’t need a coronation at this point. We need to get the battle over. Determine who is going to be the nominee, Trump or Cruz.
Rubio made a fantastic suggestion yesterday, one final debate between the 2-3 folks still in the race, at the convention, on the floor, before the delegates themselves.
This would be AMAZING and the ratings would be thru the roof.
This needs to happen, unless of course Cruz or Trump wrap up the nomination beforehand, which at this point is very unlikely.
Because he has no path to winning honorably via we the voters. He’s hanging in there hoping the GOP establishment will anoint him at the convention over the guy who won the lion’s share of the votes, the lions share of the states and the lions share of the delegates. That’s no way to win, bro.
And if the GOP anoints anyone, we all know that it sure as hell won’t be Cruz. They hate him as much as they hate Cruz. So he’d be splitting the party and destroying the nation for no reason whatsoever other than personal pride and ego.
wow. I didn’t know Jim’s other name was dynoman. Boy is Jim obnoxious when he uses that screen name.
I’m a Trump guy but will GLADLY pull the lever the Cruz. I don’t understand the animosity with nevertrump or nevercruz.
Cankles or Rumplehair will be the end.
They MUST be beaten.
I can only hope that we don’t see another “Never Romney” situation where MANY just did not bother to vote because “he has the same DNA as the liberals”— now THE KENYAN is in his second term.
C’mon. It’s not even close.
I’m a Cruz gal and I agree with you. No Hillary! No Bernie!
Well said sir. I am with you 100%.
Yup! Can’t wait for silly season to be over. Conservative Cruzaders and Trumpians of the World are going to need to put all the acrimony aside and unite, or this country is toast.
That’s not how it works. If Trump gets to 1237 he’s got it. But if neither gets there then it’s an open convention.
Those are the rules. Why would you advocate differently? There was a time Cruz was THEE conservative candidate. Trump is certainly no conservative and you know it.
Why would we turn our back on the constitutional conservative for the guy that wants to grow the gov’t in every other way? Why is that acceptable to you?
As will this freeper.
