In the wake of national outrage over perceived rigging in the presidential primary process, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh is urging political outsiders such as Donald Trump to learn the rules of the game if they wish to achieve success.
On his broadcast Tuesday, Limbaugh reminded listeners that both the Republican and Democratic Parties are private organizations, and are akin to businesses who dont want an outsider coming in and taking over the show.
The first order of business of any business is to stay open. The second order of business is to make sure the people who run it continue to run it. To stop coup detats, so to speak, Limbaugh said.

“...Trump could not have done anything about it...”
Exactly!!! And Rush’s comments actually prove this when one thinks about it. “make sure the people who run it continue to run it...” translates into - there really aren’t any rules other than the rule to manipulate the process at all times to keep the power. Since the ONLY rule is Never Trump than Trump is shut out of the game and handed no cards, whether he knows and/or keeps the rules or not is made irrelevant.
It’s like a high school girls clique or even sorority; even if one learned how to walk talk and dress exactly like they do and learned and kept their rules perfectly, your are not let in if you are not wanted.
Trump hatred is in the ballpark.
Beg to differ. Reagan did not start out as the Conservative who backed Goldwater in 1964, and then moved California to the Right. He had patriotic/conservative instincts, which developed as he focused on his times.
Trump did not start out as the Conservative/patriot that he is in the process of evolving into. But he has the same innate Conservative instincts, now being focused, which brought Goldwater & Reagan to where they emerged as Conservative heroes.
Trump: Metaphor For American Conservatism.
And Trump clearly understands the social chaos that politically correct denial of American preferences has wrought & is increasingly manifesting.
Well put!
The idea that Trump is not conservative is ludicrous; one only needs to look at the platform is he is running on and that tells one all that one needs to know.
Stopping illegal immigration and only allowing trade agreements that protect Americans and American jobs and manufacturing is how Trump plans to Make America Great Again.
How is this not conservative?? (rhetorical question for those who don’t get it - not directed to you)
You really need to put down the kool aid and learn about Trump and Cruz.
I notice you glassed over the Facts showing Cruz is not a conservative based on his consistent anti-American sovereignty actions.
So what is Cruz conserving?
“If Trump wins it means the electorate has turned its back on Goldwater-Reagan Conservatism.”
The Republican establishment hated and tried to destroy both Reagan and Goldwater.
I remember how strongly Reagan was hated. Only after Reagan won did the Republican establishment pretend to like Reagan.
Cruz is far more conservative then Trump. We have a better chance of getting him to modify his stance on policy.
Trump will never admit he’s wrong and wont take input from his advisors let alone the voters.
Trump gave a good speech. He told you what you want to hear. I get it.
That doesn’t make him a conservative.
Good point.
Since hes not about conserving America what exactly is he conserving? How much of those trees will be relevant when we are living in the the North American Union forest?
“They dont want Trump to be the one that grows the party.”
Yeah, grow it. Kinda like a wart or a cyst?
Rush is nuts. It is not reading the rules it is the corruption within the RNC itself.
“Trump can call someone and it does not sound hateful”
I’d bet your Doctor could give you something for that?
If Trump pulls it off at the convention, Rush will be his very best friend on the radio the next day. He’ll be telling us all about how he plays golf with Trump, how he and Trump have discussed politics, etc. He’ll never again mention about how in-the-tank he was for Cruz.
For Rush, it’s about being one of the cool kids. He’s mostly hoping for another night in the Lincoln bedroom.
The Colorado win does not seem to be satisfying for Mr. Cruz. Instead of profusely thanking the people of Colorado for their support, he continues to gripe about Trump.
It seems that even if Trump had done what Limbaugh suggested, it would have been a waste of time. The GOPe is using Cruz to Stop Trump.
I listened to this yesterday and he is correct about some of this but he has the gall to say there is absolutely nothing underhanded going on...just the rules, total lie.
Principles are one thing. Coming between a man and his money and income stream are another. He’s rapidly disappearing on my scale of whose opinion really matters.
They all have to answer to their sponsors and the companies that own the stations. Rush is out to stop Trump while pretending to be neutral. Even he knows that if Trum wins he will no longer be relevant along with the rest of the “conservative” media.
If Trump wins there will be a rise of new media like Dennis Michael Lynch and new vibrant young spokespeople like Steven Miller. Let’s face it, this party is tired and it’s time to realign it and bring on new voices.
I listen to Rush nearly every day (my sanity check!) and think he’s been very careful to be fair to Cruz and Trump - and the others, earlier in the campaign. He has defended both Cruz and Trump repeatedly.
I have no dog in the hunt (I’m Canadian, living in Senator Cruz’ birth town) but must admit that Trump sure scares all the right people.
So does Cruz, of course, but it bothers me that the GOPe are rallying behind him, however reluctantly, and when he started attacking Trump from the left/GOPe side it really bothered me because I liked him best initially but it made him seem like just another politician.
Trump’s not being a politician may be his ace in the hole in this “people vs. elites” election. I guess we’ll see!
But anyway, I think Rush has been doing an excellent job of presenting the big picture and offering reality checks to both campaigns. Hell, they should both listen to him.
Please, my American FRiends, come together and don’t let the Dem/commies destroy what’s left of the free world. It’s really been bothering me the vitriol on FR this campaign season. I’ve been here since about 1998, lurking for a few years at first, and while things always get “spirited” here during the primaries, this time has been nuts and far too many people are forgetting the real enemy isn’t Trump or Cruz (or their supporters).

Cruz is more conservative than any other current candidate. He’s more conservative by far than any candidate nominated since Reagan. He’s not perfect but with him we have a better chance of restoring America.
Tearing down and destroying is what leftists do and want.
