Cruz's message to Wall Street: Help me
POLITICO ^ | April 13, 2016 | Ben White

After bashing bankers, including his wife's employer Goldman Sachs, he invites them to a Harvard Club fundraiser.

NEW YORK -- This Monday, assorted bankers, traders and Wall Street lawyers will gather inside the neo-Georgian walls of the Harvard Club in midtown Manhattan to write big checks to an unlikely recipient: Ted Cruz.

Cruz, who attended Harvard Law School, isn't one to trade too heavily on old school ties and friendships at the likes of Goldman Sachs, where his wife works. On the campaign trail, the Texas senator has railed against Wall Street “crony capitalism,” ripped giant banks as “too big to fail” and wrapped himself in populist garb in his quest to take down Donald Trump. But now he's desperate: Cruz, who has already received $12 million in support from the financial industry, needs Wall Street money more than ever.

Given the formidable stakes, many on Wall Street are paying attention to Cruz's overtures. Some say they dislike both Cruz and Trump, but will come to the aid of Cruz as the lesser evil. Others find Cruz's anti-Wall Street rhetoric, combined with his role in promoting Washington gridlock, too objectionable to overcome.

And yet the so-called “win” in Colorado turns out to be the guarantee of Ted Cruz’s final and irreversible defeat.
It is so over for Ted. The piling on phase has begun.
America HATES a cheater.

Some say they dislike both Cruz and Trump, but will come to the aid of Cruz as the lesser evil.

In other words, Cruz is more likely to give them sweetheart crony capitalistic deals than Trump.

If you don't like crony capitalism, vote Trump. He is already rich--he doesn't need Wall Street influence money.

Lil’ Donnie is a joke of a candidate... Cannot even figure out a basic primary election in Colorado...

When they changed the rules at the last minute to block him out? It is not Trump's fault they did that.

Back in August, the CO GOP decided to change the rules to make the delegates unbound--with the rationale that they would then be able to go to the convention and vote for the candidate of their choice. Then, in contradiction of those rules, they went and had a secret convention where they went ahead and bound all the delegates to Cruz--throwing out Trump delegates, purposely printing ballots that only had Cruz on them. Blaming Trump for "not figuring this out" is akin to blaming a homeowner for allowing lightning to strike and burn his home down.

The CO GOP cheated, and they can't hide it. That cheating helps Trump in the long run, not Cruz. Whether Cruz was complicit or not in that stealing of delegates, the fact that he has not denounced it makes him look just as guilty as the CO GOP.

And you still believe that Cruz is a principled outsider??? He's showing himself to be as establishment as they come! And he's not a conservative, either, since conservatives do not lie and cheat to get their way.

I found the deleted Cruz campaign solicitation. It said that for $35 I could get my Deputy Delegate Card. Mygosh, some of the more brain-melded Cruz candidates might show up in Cleveland and claim they're "Deputy Delegates".

The 1940 Orphan Annie decoder ring:

1940 model was the model featured in “A Christmas Story” This decoder had an eagle, shield and American flag on the front, with 1940, the skeleton keys and “ROA” on the back. Each was individualized with a unique serial number stamped on the back. The numbers and letters appeared on the edge of the wheel, rather than on the front or back.

More info on the decoder rings from 1935-1940:

Trump did not even attempt to do anything. Cruz obviously has been organizing for months there.

You honestly think he’s being working with the GOPe this WHOLE time... as a trojan horse “outsider”?

Wow... that would be quite amazing, after calling out the highest ranking Republican in the Senate a liar on the Senate Chamber floor...

For it all to be an act...

Give me a break.

Trump did not even attempt to do anything. Cruz obviously has been organizing for months there.

Really?

Under the rules set by the CO GOP in August, delegates were to be elected during the "primary", but not bound to any candidate. This was so that rather than being bound to candidates that don't make it to the national convention, CO delegates could freely vote for one of the remaining candidates at the national convention. So, clearly, it would have been a waste of time for any candidate to campaign there, and Trump did not.

Fast forward a few months. The non-selective primary took place, and then weeks later, a sudden surprise state convention took place to install Cruz. A state convention that was not mentioned when the CO GOP set its rules in August?

Looking at this article, it appears that the CO GOP told the Cruz campaign way ahead of this surprise convention, but only told the Trump campaign days ahead of time. That looks like intentional sabotage. Furthermore, had there been a real apportionment of delegates, instead of underhanded delegate theft, the final percentage of delegates bound to each candidate would be proportional (within statistical error) of the overall popular support for each candidate. That is because the delegates are a sampling of the population, and so reflect the distribution of that population.

How about trying to look at the situation with an outsider's eyes, as an impartial judge? If candidates Smith and Jones, neither of whom you know anything about, were running, would you conclude that what happened in CO was a fair and impartial selection of delegates to represent the will of the voters?

Don't get so hung up on seeing your guy win at any cost that you become blind to corruption and dirty dealings. If Cruz were honest, he would denounce the debacle in CO and call for a retake. But Cruz isn't honest. And, given his demonstrated dishonesty, how can you conclude that he is conservative, or that he is anything but an establishment insider?

How the Colorado GOP nominates their delegates is their business.

Would I prefer primary based delegate selection? Sure. Do I see merit in caucus based selection. Absolutely. Do I believe the Colorado GOP has the right to nominate their delegates how they see fit? Without question.

Don’t like it? Change it.
Can’t change it? Start a new party.

So, you really are okay with the CO GOP completely removing the voters out of the picture?

The shenanigans they pulled there are worthy of such bastions of liberty as Cuba and North Korea.

Most people see the CO scam for what it is. Furthermore, it damages the GOP and does no good for Cruz.

When I was a kid a policeman gave me a ‘junior detective’ badge.

I imagine a Deputy Delegate badge is comparable.

I also got a fundraising solicitation from the Cruz campaign saying if I made a donation some shadowy entity would match my donation. It came with a pre addressed envelope but they expected me to supply the postage.
