Trump did not even attempt to do anything. Cruz obviously has been organizing for months there.

Really?

Under the rules set by the CO GOP in August, delegates were to be elected during the "primary", but not bound to any candidate. This was so that rather than being bound to candidates that don't make it to the national convention, CO delegates could freely vote for one of the remaining candidates at the national convention. So, clearly, it would have been a waste of time for any candidate to campaign there, and Trump did not.

Fast forward a few months. The non-selective primary took place, and then weeks later, a sudden surprise state convention took place to install Cruz. A state convention that was not mentioned when the CO GOP set its rules in August?

Looking at this article, it appears that the CO GOP told the Cruz campaign way ahead of this surprise convention, but only told the Trump campaign days ahead of time. That looks like intentional sabotage. Furthermore, had there been a real apportionment of delegates, instead of underhanded delegate theft, the final percentage of delegates bound to each candidate would be proportional (within statistical error) of the overall popular support for each candidate. That is because the delegates are a sampling of the population, and so reflect the distribution of that population.

How about trying to look at the situation with an outsider's eyes, as an impartial judge? If candidates Smith and Jones, neither of whom you know anything about, were running, would you conclude that what happened in CO was a fair and impartial selection of delegates to represent the will of the voters?

Don't get so hung up on seeing your guy win at any cost that you become blind to corruption and dirty dealings. If Cruz were honest, he would denounce the debacle in CO and call for a retake. But Cruz isn't honest. And, given his demonstrated dishonesty, how can you conclude that he is conservative, or that he is anything but an establishment insider?

How the Colorado GOP nominates their delegates is their business.

Would I prefer primary based delegate selection? Sure. Do I see merit in caucus based selection. Absolutely. Do I believe the Colorado GOP has the right to nominate their delegates how they see fit? Without question.

Don’t like it? Change it.
Can’t change it? Start a new party.
