Karen Winters knows how easily boys are drawn to a life of violence in the Homan Square neighborhood.
But she still can't understand how her 16-year-old nephew ended up shot to death after allegedly confronting a Chicago police officer with a gun Monday evening.
"Once again, we're looking at environment, this community. How some of these young boys are just plagued with certain influences," Winters said Tuesday. "But not to this extent, by no means."
Police say the officer shot Pierre Loury after stopping a car suspected of being connected to an earlier shooting.
Officers pulled the car over around 7:40 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Homan Square neighborhood, according to Chicago Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy. Loury jumped out and ran away, and an officer followed, he said.
"(Officers) attempted to stop the car, at which time the offender fled from the car, with one officer in pursuit," Roy said on the scene shortly before 10 p.m. "A foot pursuit ensued, during the course of that pursuit, it led to an armed confrontation between the offender and the officer, resulting in the officer firing shots with his service weapon, striking the offender."

On Loury's Facebook page, friends called him by his nickname, "Polo." Photos of what appeared to be drugs and guns were mixed with occasional inspirational posts about bettering himself.
He frequently posted photos of his outfit of the day as well as new shoes, watches and distressed painted jeans. He also often referred to the Reese Money Gang or RMG, letters tattooed on his neck.
Some videos posted late last month showed Loury hanging out with friends, smoking and counting what appeared to be stacks of money. Loury also talked about having bigger plans for himself, writing, "Thinkin of A Master Plan."
His family said Loury was the oldest of five children, an aspiring rapper who attended Community Christian Alternative Academy in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood
From the Dindu Nuffins tribe?
Uh, laddie, you might need to rethink that plan....no rapping career for you; dead rappers are extremely quiet.
From the comments on the article
“Actually he was shot for running after the police recognized the car the was in, that was identified during a shooting that happened earlier in the day. So the suspect is now the victim? Twisted thought process by those who were chanting “justice for Pierre”, as most would say he got it already”
Besides the black fascist Black Lives Matter protestors, the other group, the Chicago Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression, is an old Communist Party USA front chapter. The National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression was founded about 1972/73 out of the old CPUSA front the National Defense Organization (to Defend Angela Davis and all Political Prisoners).
There is a good source about this group at www.keywiki.org under “National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression) and “Angela Davis”.
Yet
Yeah, he was a good boy.
Interested in music, turning his life around.
Getting ready to go to college.
Just wanted to go to college and have kids, errr...more kids.
Sharp as a billiard ball, that one.
Taught him everything she knows, she did.
His aunt calls him a young boy.
He’s a 16 year old thug with a gun.
He hardly ever stole anything and only shot at one or two other people who dissed him.
“...Loury also talked about having bigger plans for himself, writing, “Thinkin of A Master Plan.””
Maybe thinking of being the head drug pusher?
How about "He probably shouldn't have done that!" ... Or is that too difficult?
While I’m sorry for your loss Tambrasha Hudson, but if you had kept your legs closed in 1999 or 2000, rather than ‘puttin’ out’ to a certain ‘bro’ named Loury, you would have more than a high school edjumacashun and you would not have had ‘Pierre’ to lose. All choices have consequences.
Gee, I don’t understand the big mean cop shooting a little innocent kid who din’t do nuffin. The kid must have found the gun and was only wanting to turn it in to the police like every good citizen would do.
Looking at the video, it seems like his pants may have caught on the top of the fence and torn his pants, leaving his leg hoisted by the garment.
Doesn’t look right.
Then again, I am not an aspiring doctor...
Looked, odd to me too. My guess is while climbing the fence, he turned to shoot at the officer. The officer then shot him, where he fell over the side and his leg got caught...maybe
Wonder if he had THC in his blod like martin and brown?
This war is lost. Bring Our Boys Home!
LOL
So, he was on the fence but, fell on the wrong side?
