Home Depot security guard about to be attacked by tire iron is saved by armed citizen

Another example of a concealed carry citizen saving the day unfolded in Texas last week.

At a Home Depot store in Amarillo, a man suspected of stealing power tools was confronted by the store’s loss prevention officer in the parking lot, reported KVII-TV.

The two ended up in a struggle after the officer caught the suspect, 35 year-old Ricky Solis, when he tried to flee. Another man stepped in and tried to help Solis escape, police said, kicking the loss prevention officer in the face.

The second suspect then retrieved a tire iron from his car and allegedly returned to assault the officer, according to KVII.

That's when a citizen who witnessed the scene stepped in to help.

He drew his gun and ordered the men to get on the ground, but the second suspect got back in his car and fled. The armed citizen kept his gun trained on Solis who was subsequently handcuffed by the loss prevention officer, who had suffered minor injuries to his face.

It’s some solace that one out of two perps were caught.

Not all loss prevention employees are so allowed;corporate policies vary.It is all about liability.

I think Home Depot is where I bought those cans of 25 foot spray Wasp killer!

I am doubtful that will work on a Latino.

Well I guess they’re not real loss prevention employees. Maybe it’s only for internal work as in shoplifting by employees?

You can’t shoot someone who is running away in most states.

Now what makes you think I was suggesting that the citizen shoot someone.

I was mearly pointing out that in injecting himself into the situation he placed himself and perhaps the victim as well in grave danger, once the attacker was behind the wheel it could have been used against him.

I wasn’t there and I don’t know if the attacker was actually fleeing or just positioning for greater firepower he may have also had in the vehicle.

Recall the man that shot an armed robber only to be killed seconds later by the perps partner(wife)

Just a reminder, this stuff is risky business and to stay alert especially if you carry.

Those dang tire irons. I hate it when they go berserk and attack humans.

Tire Irons should be banned, or at least locked up in trunks, and taken out only when under the control of a licensed and trained human being.

I was a loss prevention whatever, back when I was in college. Bounced a few heads. That kind of shit would get you fired or sued these days. I thoroughly enjoyed my days as a bouncer for biker bars.

Did such as a K9 handler in AF security before Cross training to EOD ...... as well later as a Deputy Sheriff ..... young mans game as at some point some one will kick you ass right proper. Always someone bigger, stronger, faster etc .... never lost a fight but ya couldn’t tell by looking at me.... :o)

As a puppy pusher no one wanted to fight my pup who was eager for a bite...... they complied, face down and away, palms up etc.....

Didn’t have a pup on my six, but did have a bar full of bikers wearing the same colors. Never had a problem.

Interesting, you bring up an old conumdrem of the wild west ... there’s always gonna be someone bigger, faster, meaner, etc. ... it’s good to be alive :o)

Ya, I’m trying to imagine them giving the loss prevention guy a pair of cuffs with no weapon and saying, “Go get um”!
