He's disparaged his own Republican leader as a liar and dismissed fellow senators as part of the "Washington cartel." But now, with his presidential prospects hanging in the balance, Ted Cruz is moving closer than ever to the D.C. establishment.
Directly and through surrogates, the Texas senator is aggressively reaching out to his Senate colleagues as he prepares for the possibility of a convention floor fight against Donald Trump. And Cruzs emissaries on Capitol Hill are now signaling to senior Republicans that Cruz would be willing to work with them as the GOP nominee in a way Trump would not.
So far, Cruz can tout only two Senate endorsements, from conservative Mike Lee and the deal-making centrist Lindsey Graham. But Senate Republicans are now at least listening to an intensified pitch from Cruz and his allies: That hes a far more stable choice for the top of the ticket and for the GOP's hopes of keeping the Senate.

I don’t think it will be contentious. Second round Rubio, some Kasich and Trump delegates vote Cruz and it is over. The media is working this up to be more than it is - in their dreams. Cruz will be a great president, someone trusted.
Trump should have studied some policy and controlled his pettiness and vindictiveness if he wanted to win.
You can come out of the GOP e-closet now.
The whole point of running for a party's nomination isn't to destroy the party establishment -- it is to take over the Establishment. That's what happened with Reagan. He challenged the establishment in 1976 lost, then challenged it in 1980, won, and became the guy who controlled the establishment.
Trump's audience - mesmerized by a carefully crafted perception concocted over 14 seasons.

His late/failed entry into the Mortgage bidness - and his complete inability to demonstrate the integrity required to take ownership for that, and other, mistakes - reveals much more about character, and the lack thereof, than anything he and his fans have quacked about on the campaign trail.
Meanwhile it's the RINO's similar lack of character, clothed in a suit of fine manure that would make professor Diogenes Teufelsdrockh blush with pride, that's (mis)led their club to the verge of self-destruction.
The Oligarhic Collectivists have played the charade well against the sheeple.
Nails it...
“it is to take over the Establishment.”
How do you take over the establishment, when the establishment owns you ?? That’s like borrowing money from the Mafia; he’s gonna be paying the “vig” everyday for the rest of his political life.
Lord, we all knew something didn’t ring true with the guy from the start.
Manure.
Scat.
Excrement.
Dung.
Chips.
TRUMP has a few support of the establishment but mostly of independant AND he is NOT SPEAKING LIKE the establishment .
Just have a look , a little bit , at the whole picture in order to try to understand something
sure it does,, Cruz was hated because he is an ass@$%^ and has always been one.. but he’s the only career politician left (who gets his funding from the establishment lovers.. Trump has no super Pacs and no funding from big corporations who love cheap labor)

www.tedbush.org owes his political life to GW Bush. He’s been a Washington insider for years. His wife is still a Washington insider. Both are globalists to the core. Owned by Wall St.
He’s also ineligible for the office, whether his supporters want to admit it or not. His records are sealed for a reason.
Well, Trump has obviously beat him at that.
He's hated more
Hated BY more
And made a bigger ass@$%^ out of himself than any GOP candidate in my lifetime.
Fortunately for him cult members thrive on the hatred their leaders bring to themselves.
Jim Jone's cult worshiped him more for being hated, Drink that Trump Koolaid... support Hillary if he loses the nomination.
Because the President essentially picks the head of the RNC. You win the nomination and election, you're the guy/woman who controls the party. It's as simple as that. At that point, the "establishment" simply has no power over you.
Again, ask your question in the context of Reagan. When he won the nomination and election, he got to reshape the party machinery.
So it's not the Mafia. The RNC can't send Luca Brasi to break the legs of the President, and have absolutely no mechanism at all to enforce any promises that were made to them. At the end, as their options shrink, they have to back someone. And as the preferred establishment candidates fell by the wayside (last one was Rubio), they're stuck with two guys they don't like.
Whomever wins the nomination will be backed by the RNC. Does that magically convert them to being controlled by the "Establishment"? What do they use, pixie dust?
Yes, they came to us. The establishment surrendered to Cruz without firing a shot. They saw the power of Cruz and just threw in the towel at their mortal enemy.
Go back to sleep.
Lyin Ted cannot defeat Trump in votes or delegates before the convention.. THAT tells you what the voters think
Are you saying that you want the nominee to not accept the support of the RNC, but rather to promise publicly to destroy the RNC, and replace all/most Republican members of Congress?
Because that may sound very cathartic to some, but if that's what Trump only intends, he will get zero support, and have zero chance of winning the general election. So it will be a big meaningless threat that results in him losing.
Trump the Dump showed real fear last night, outright panic.
Cruz is bought and paid for.
He can go straight to hell.
Personally I thought Mr. Trump’s reply to Cruz’s victory was very mature, presidential, and very humble in nature. I can’t wait to have him as our next president. I don’t know which is classier, his tweeting Ms. Cruz’s picture or telling everyone what a liar Cruz is. I wonder how he will describe Cruz after he wins the nomination.
I can’t wait for his victory speech in November. Will he trash Clinton, or say she ran a good campaign?
