Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said he is "95 percent" sure he would pick a veteran politician for vice president if elected.
He said he would choose somebody that can walk into the Senate and whos been friendly with these guys for 25 years, and people for 25 years and can get things done" in an extensive interview with The Washington Post published Saturday.
So I would 95 percent see myself picking a political person, as opposed to somebody from the outside," he said.
You don't know what you're talking about, Cruz is highly popular in Texas.
Thank you.
Oh guys, make no mistake - I’m all pro Trump.
Everything you want to know about Trump is in his book. I read it in the late 80s when I was 14 and I still keep it around. It tells you a clear roadmap as to how he will work.
I can tell you that a Trump presidency MUST be profitable. In one way or another. And everything he does he will do to make America richer so we can make his industry (And all industry) richer. He’s on our side.
While he’s basically retiring and handing off the reigns to his kids - This presidency will be the last family legacy for the Trump family. He’s going to leave a better world for his kids and their kids now. And that means a better world for me and my kids.
He isn’t funding his campaign himself. He’s using his own money, yes.. but there is money coming from other sources as well. Elon Musk doesn’t have the money to put something like this together.
His VP choice should be from his playbook - but I think that Trump himself knows that his presidency will be lameduck from day one, and he’ll have to break all of the rules to get his agenda through.
Congress isn’t going to agree with anything he says. I really think he’s throwing himself at the machine in order to give a valiant last-stitch legacy for his family.
And when he’s done, he will have found a way to invest in the very American industries that he created or saved. You betcha.
This shows that T.Rump is not conservative. After all, the admonishment that appears over and over and over again in the Constitution is “Congress shall make no law...” In short, the idea we need to get things done is liberal claptrap which I will hence forth call claptrump.
Bwahahahaha.
I agree 100% with that plan. if he isn’t forced to cut a deal with Kasich Newt would be a good choice.
“Lindsay Graham?”
I’m not going to laugh at that. I think it may be Newt but Graham would not shock me.
Newt Gingrich is 72 years old. He is not going to be VP. He also has tons of scandal in this background.
I could just see it now. Two old fart white guys with 6 marriages between then along with adultery. We would get crushed. Even Hillary is younger than they are.
NO INSIDER!!! Be creative. Think out side of the same old box. Why run as the outsider to the corrupt political system and then have a Vice Presidential candidate who is an insider? Look what happened with Reagan and Bush. He felt pressured to have Bush for his running mate and history tells the story of how that went for us. NO INSIDER PLEASE MR. TRUMP!!!
How about Rand Paul? Widen the tent to pull Libertarians in. They are aligned somewhat at preferring a less interfering foreign policy.
If Trump is focused on releasing the Federal chains on our business environment and encouraging job growth, he may push a more conservative/libertarian position of moving some decision making back to the states.
Rand Paul is also young enough to carry the mantle for another 8 years after Trump.
I’d bet it’s Newt.

When Rand was travelling around speaking to college students and other groups, before he announced, I thought he was wonderful.
Then came the first debate. Before it was his turn, he attacked DJT so rudely, I was stunned and soured. I never suspected he had that side to him, and was permanently put off from him. Manners, Rand, civility, common courtesy, concepts seemingly absent from today’s society. Some may dismiss this as minor, but I disagree. Our citizenry has changed from polite, pleasant, and mannerly, to a rude, thoughtless, and violent one. It IS important. I’ve since done a 180 degree turnaround on Rand.
Rand (and his father) seemed to think DJT was the worst possible monster. Yes, there is common ground re: foreign policy. That is one big area where others go astray, and DJT and Paul get it right.
i’m not sure how many libertarians would vote for DJT because of Rand. Many disliked and disavowed Rand early on, and made it very clear they did not hold him in high regard like they do his father.
Because Rand was so vehement in his attacks, I suspect he would not be on DJT’s short list.
I now believe Rand has pretty become a bought and paid for Establishment tool, supporting McConnell, etc., unlike his father, who stayed true to his core beliefs.
JMHO
Newt can herd cats... maybe’s he’s the one...
Jeff Sessions
Sasse hates Trump.
How about Duncan Hunter Jr?
Jeesh people it will be either kasich (if he would run with trump) or Rubio (same thing)
If trump has his way it would be Shumer or Hillary with McConnell as his chief of staff...talk about getting things done
I repeat: If you have a 95% chance, bet HALF of the farm.
You keep working those odds, and you will do very well.
Thank you for your input. I’ve not heard of anyone who read many of Trump’s books without liking him.
One way to be sure about his VP.
We’ll have to wait and see.
— FRegards ....
he didnt clear 50% in the primary...you’re welcome.
