First Baptist Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress is standing behind Donald Trump's comments on abortion.

Jeffress is in Donald Trump's corner when it comes to comment he made earlier in the week. This was first reported by NBC 5's media partners at The Dallas Morning News. ... "Look, pro lifers who criticize that comment either are doing so because they really don't believe their rhetoric that abortion is murder, or they are so blinded by hatred for Donald Trump they are not able to think logically," said Jeffress.

Asked if he thinks a woman should be punished for getting an abortion, should abortion be outlawed at some point, Jeffress said the following. ...

No, pro-liferswho point out that saying we should punish women for abortions don’t understand the issue.

No one who truly believes that abortion should be banned or restricted would say that since it would mean putting 1.2 million women each year on trial for murder.

Instead we advocate prosecuting the abortionists who make a profit off the misery of women.

We have ALWAYS argued that laws should focus on the “doctors”.

In making a flint remark like that Trump is disqualified from representing our position.

Trump is making us all look like idiots and a laughing stock.

"First of all, abortion will never be outlawed in this country.

Nationwide? Probably not. But in some states? Never say never, Pastor Jeffress. In 1992, Roe v. Wade came within a single vote of being overturned. But for the perfidy of Anthony Kennedy, it would have been overturned, and abortion would have been outlawed in several states. The court's composition has changed (and not in anti-Roe direction, unfortunately), and unless the GOP wins the presidency in November, the situation is going to get worse before it gets better. But 'never' is a long time. The court's composition could be quite different a couple decades from now.

Oh, poor women who murder their babies, they are such victims.

Far as I’m concerned, Trump yet again said out loud what everyone is thinking.

Unfortunately, the hand-wringing of the PC-coddling coward brigades was so loud that Trump walked back his comments a bit. But, yet again, he’s moved the conversation in the right direction, which is that ABORTION IS MURDER, and participation in an abortion makes one a MURDERER.

Thanks again, Trump!

Trump answered that... IF abortion was illegal...a hypothetical question at best...those who participate in it should be punished. IOW, if they broke a law they deserve punishment. What is wrong with that??

Trump lacked insight here, but that is still not too late to cure.

A proper insight would be that the women are punishing themselves with the aid of these lefty, so-called friends.

Trump wasn’t even wrong, though, for saying the “law” should stay the same. Because we don’t have a “law” problem — heaven knows how many legal efforts big and small have been made to rein in this tragedy, only to be quashed in courts. We have a “court” problem.

Because Roe w. Wade was over a generation ago, and because of the myopic focus of American education, nobody knows the pre-Roe history. Women, at worst, got slapped on the wrist.

“No, pro-liferswho point out that saying we should punish women for abortions don’t understand the issue.”

I consider myself very pro-life. I didn’t know that weasel words that a woman who has an abortion is not to be held accountable is the talking point of the day.

Women can not be excused from their actions. We are not talking about the scared little girl who may be pressured into an abortion, but a woman who can sign up to fight for this country. She has control over her body and if it was ever made illegal again, she can be held accountable for her actions. What about the woman who has 2,3, or 4 abortions, is she not accountable?

If you say abortion is murder, do you not punish the murderer? Abortions now can be performed with a pill.

We’ve heard this before with the gun ban issue, only now you take the opposite side.

That said, if I kill my mother with a gun, who is guilty of the crime, the gun or me?

I think you need to be consistent.

With modern contraception, the moral argument against prostitution does not go as deep as it used to. We have managed to limit the immediate harm. There used to be nightmare stories of children of prostitution who were loathed and hated and quite often inspired into a life of crime if not also exploitation.

It has become harder for women to avoid being treated as a sex object. They got their wish of autonomy. They didn’t stop to think that it was an autonomy of hell.

The act, like suicide or self mayhem, was classically held to be self punishing because the natural bond between mother and gestated child was so close. And so penalties of law were light or nil.

I am almost amused, if it were not for being saddened, at the attempts to address these issues de novo, as though we had no history.

Yes, stupid is as stupid does, and that includes those who willfully forget history — and I have mentioned history more than once on this thread alone.

Evidently Jeffress is bipolar; he delivers some top rate sermons when in the Word and is batsh*t crazy when in the World.

This "pastor" is behind the times. Trump now supports Roe v Wade. Trump's latest flip:
"At this moment, the laws are set. And I think we have to leave it that way."

Just to clarify, I too think that abortion is murder but Jeffress’ adamant rock-ribbed support for Trump is what makes him bipolar IMHO.
