Never use the word "you" in a reply.
I’d invert this. Typically the person who personalizes it is trying to start a flame war, so the best way to avoid one is to walk away as soon as the OTHER person says “you”.
Unless it’s in agreement or complimentary, of course.
You are great!
That's silly...
I’m waiting for Jim Thompson’s reply.
Yes that is when it goes personal, becomes about the poster instead of the issues. The final default action is the ad hominem.
You Dawg, a babe magnet, lol.
You nailed it.
Oh, wait....
Whoops, that's twice
I understand your concern and do believe even if Cruz is nominated, that we come together and beat Hillary
But I live in New Jersey, Cruz already insulted the state (New York Values extend to New Jersey since many people who work in NY live in New Jersey or moved from NY to NJ for whatever reason)
So my vote won’t matter if Cruz is the guy, Hillary, Bernie, whatever socialist D will win the state by a yuge margin. However Trump is well accepted here, I know a ton of Trump supporters, most are just disgruntled Democrats, blue collar guys who are sick of globalists selling our country out to the lowest bidder. So I believe Trump puts New Jersey in play, as well as NY and PA in the general.
Our party is too short sighted to see the big picture, they say Trump might lose Utah in the general but don’t realize he puts NY, PA, NJ, OH, CA, MI into play. Give up 5 EC votes to gain 300+? What business minded person wouldn’t do that? Oh wait, they wouldn’t understand that
I am tired of business as usual
You always say that...at least a million times...
YOU must be a Trumpist
YOU have to be a Cruzer
“How to avoid 90% of flamewars — Never use the word “you” in a reply.”

True dat ... along with refraining from posting anonymous & bogus slanders picked up from the Internet or the Twitterverse.
Bump!
Never use the word “you” in a reply.
...
The first time I ever came across such advice was in a book by Ben Franklin. Great advice.
“Some folks ‘round here use “yins”. Must be the Pennsyltucky rednecks. “
Yins talkin about ridge runners!
“...And stick with facts, not feelings.”

PARTY POOPER!
What?
I was a Cruz supporter up until that point and was so appalled I became a Trump supporter. But as mad as I am at Cruz for partially blaming the victims of the attacks for provoking them. He is at the least better than anyone on the side in political alliance with the attackers.
Never, in the history of the term, “calm down”, has it ever worked. Matter of fact, it usually provokes the opposite response.
