JIm It's Time You Demand A Truce In Cruz/Trump War!
Me

Posted on 03/30/2016 3:09:28 PM PDT by OneVike

Jim;

Things have gotten way out of control here as of late. You know as well as most of us, that this war must end and end now, or your forum will end up being nothing more than a joke.

I humbly suggest that you not just request, but demand, that everyone step back and take a serious look at the slanderous comments being made by both camps. Debate is one thing, but what is happening is no longer a debate. This forum is on the verge of a civil war. A war that need not happen. For the good of this great forum, I and many I have talked to on both sides of the war admit things have gone too far.

I am a Ted Cruz supporter, yet I call on all my fellow Cruz supporters to put the knives back in the sheaths, as I ask the same of all you Trump supporters.

This civil war of Freeper against Freeper must end, or the result will inevitably be a complete destruction of this once great forum.

I begin by laying down my weapons as a gesture of good will. From hence forth I will not post any comments that are just knee jerk angry remarks that only serve to fuel the fires of hate and animosity.

We all have a common enemy in this fight, the eventual Democrat Presidential Nominee. I suggest we all remember this, because a house divided upon itself cannot stand, nor defeat the enemy.

I also offer this promise to everyone. Should Trump win the nomination, I promise to fight as hard, and as passionate, for him to become POTUS as I will for Cruz.

I am not at all sure how you equate how the tactics Trump and Cruz each choose to employ to win the nomination to how FReepers choose to communicate to the forum and each other. The tread is about civility on the forum. What you describe is politics and hasn’t changed in my lifetime. It isn’t a game of dodge ball and all who enter the ring know that.

Those who choose to be here to read and talk about the issues are not your enemy and being vile to a poster, regardless of who they support is not changing his/her mind nor is it likely to sway anyone reading it so what exactly is the point? A typical poster to this forum has no sway over the thinking of the more than 7 million people who have so far voted for Donald Trump.

And I’ll note one last item. About 20 to 40 FReepers vote on the daily forum caucus for Ted Cruz. Why aren’t all Cruz supporters voicing their preference to the forum by VOTING every single day?

This surely will end, after the convention. And then we have to help defeat Hilary. Nothing good comes from the infighting in this forum. That was the actual theme of the tread.

What’s the point of the voting thread besides fun for those who choose to participate?

Well I do find it fun and interesting to know what the support level of each candidate is on the forum. The point is just like any other poll that is done, which is to gauge the level of support of some demographic. What’s the point of complaining about Trump’s methods of winning the popular vote and yet not demonstrating that the FR demographic lends X amount of support to Cruz. Or perhaps I misunderstand the query.

Let me put it another way.
If for the past three months or so, Ted Cruz was consistently running 3 or 4 points below Donald Trump in the forum caucus, then I might have personally believed there might be a chance for the guy in the primary. But just a bunch of people hollering on threads does not convince me of much. Does that help your question?

No, you didn’t misunderstand, I was curious as to why some people participate in it.

I’m not interested for a number of reasons, so I just don’t post in it.

Right from when the FR Caucus started, I really thought it would reflect, or at least be a good statistical measure, of what candidate FReepers generally preferred. I still believe it does. And that is why I participate. But I could be wrong. It doesn’t really matter to me that much. The only polls I rely on are the actual votes counted. About 7.8 Mil for Trump and about 5.7 Mil for Cruz. But my take in the context of this thread is ... if someone is going to take the time to cause a ruckus in a thread or on every thread, then they might as well take a minute and help their candidate be reflective of their preference in the forum’s poll. That was my original point.

Can you tell me some of your reasons that you have no interest in the FR poll ? I guess I don’t see what harm it could have to reflect your view in that measurement.

Apologies for interrupting, but I can tell you mine. I wouldn't say I have no interest since I've voted in it a few times when the urge strikes me to do so. But I'm not committed enough to participate daily.

When I look at the results I find it roughly calculates to about 200 votes per day. 75-80% Trump, the remainder Cruz. When a poll starts approaching Saddam Hussein election percentages I get the sense its meant for propaganda purposes and doubt its purpose. I suspect it'll be used in the future to propagandize the rest of the site until there is 100% commitment, and compliance for Trump.

Okay, so you believe it does not statistically reflect the general preference of the members of the FR community? If hardly any one on FR who supports Cruz participates, how is that propaganda?

Sadly, Republicans stayed home and allowed Obama to win.

We are not ever responsible for what hypothetically might have happened or even what actually did happen. We are not God neither collectively nor individually. Like soldiers in battle we are responsible for how we fight and what we do

Mitt Romney's treachery and lies were examined for many years here on FR. I voted Virgil Goode.

Not really. The sample size seems to small and the participation rate too consistent for a conservative website ranked 54 out of 100.[1]

And when you consider the number of people who've publicly dropped out because the tone of the site is not to their liking, or those who simply stopped posting or those that just lurk those poll results don't adequately reflect the FR community. They are certainly not reflective of anything going on in the general public right now when you consider Trump's support across the party.

And when someone posts a poll daily I suspect its for an undisclosed purpose.

If hardly any one on FR who supports Cruz participates, how is that propaganda?

The real question is, will the poll results become the starting point for future discussions about conservatism on FR? "Nobody agrees with you here, therefore..." It would appear you're taking that line or argumentation already.

We all know at some point a determination will be made here. And anybody who says they cannot support Trump in good conscience will be gone. FR will soon have 100% compliance. The poll is a part of that. So I am not surprised that the numbers reflect that reality and people don't want to have any part of it.

I do not believe Jim has any intention of using a poll result to ZOT anyone. I believe any ZOT would be the result of the poster being an absolute jerk. But if you believe that, I am sad for you that you don’t know the man very well.

> If hardly any one on FR who supports Cruz participates, how is that propaganda?

You didn’t really answer my question, except I guess because it is not a blind poll and therefore you fear that Jim would use it against you.

I’ll refrain from characterizing that further.
I respect your opinion. Thanks for your answer.

I will point out that Jim had stated he solidly backed Cruz when this poll began and had not yet made statements in what I would call ‘acceptance’ of Trump, and yet I had absolutely no reason not to vote my conscious. But, that’s me.

If you honestly think Romney would have been worse for this country than Obama, you are insane!

No it's insane to imagine you know what would have been. You are not God. We well knew the truth of what Romney's evil despicable record was. We examined it here on FR practically every day for over six years! In hindsight people hate him for losing. I despise him, pioneer of Obamacare and pusher of amnesty and gay marriage, for running.

“If anybody knows who George S Patton was, then you know who Trump is.

Each were ONE OF A KIND...only ONE THING mattered to GSP....”WINNING”!”

I don’t recall General Patton suing multitudes of people who disagreed with him; and hiding behind those lawyers.
But then again I went to public school so might have missed that.
