I hear rifle fire around here fairly often and when the rifle fire comes to an end I put on something to eat because I figure whoever it was doing all the shooting is probably going to be hungry.

But there are also times that I hear rifle fire and I go grab my own rifle and run outside in the fear that I might miss an opportunity to shoot at whatever needs to be shot.

“1 Capitol police officer shot, not seriously, shooter in custody”

Just being shot is serious enough.

From the story ...

Court documents from that 2015 incident describe Dawson as a 66-year-old man from Tennessee. In that incident, according to the documents, Dawson “loudly stated to Congress he was a ‘prophet of God.’ “

Did the moron mean to say allah?

No, older man from TN of simple English name, with gun not bomb, not likely connected to the false prophet; even if he is just another one, himself.

What is it with “shrapnel”? That implies some kind of explosion, or shotgun maybe. Not a simple single-shot firearm.

Chicago is a senseless murder shooting gallery

Parts of St. Louis are not much better. And it seems to be spreading south. Check out this incident in a So. Illinois college town, early Easter morning. Poor dude was sleeping in bed, gets killed by a stray bullet from a fracas next door, when a "house" party got out of hand.

http://www.wsiltv.com/story/31582485/victim-of-weekend-shooting-in-carbondale-identified

One report says 200 people were at the party. (In THAT little house?)

Right after WWII my parents lived right off of Dupont Circle before moving out to Falls Church where I was born.

Lots of scary people out there. They seem to be everywhere. Being on the west coast most of my tour, I always use to think of places like St. Louis as down home America apple pie thing. Times have changed.

When my family first came to D.C. in 1963 (we came to see Kennedy’s new grave and stayed!), we lived on Church Street, just off of Dupont Circle before moving to Maryland, and I worked at a law firm across the street from Dupont Circle for about 20 years, too (as well as many other parts of the city). D.C. has its abundant faults (and how), but I really do love this city. I’ve lived here forever, but I still have a jolt of respect seeing the White House, even though I see it every day (there HAVE been one or two good men who lived there through the years).
