Gov. Nathan Deal said he will veto the “religious liberty” bill that triggered a wave of criticism from gay rights groups and business leaders and presented him with one of the most consequential challenges he’s faced since his election to Georgia’s top office.
The measure “doesn’t reflect the character of our state or the character of its people,” the governor said Monday in prepared remarks. He said state legislators should leave freedom of religion and freedom of speech to the U.S. Constitution.

Acceptable and encouraged. The goal is to completely silence faithful believers of any religion who still teach that homosexual behavior is wrong. That biological sex determines your gender. That men and women are different for a reason.
Very sad that the people of Georgia would elect so intellectually confused a Governor.
The "broad protection of the First Amendment," by its explicit terms, forbids Congress from interfering with establishments of religion. It does not prevent a State from securing the religious freedom of its citizens. It certainly was never intended to force anyone to do business with someone they deemed morally reprehensible.
As for "discrimination?" Governor Deal is totally clueless. The right to discriminate--that is the right to make decisions based upon one's values and preferences--goes to the very essence of personal freedom. Every voluntary choice between alternatives that a free man or women makes is a discriminating act.
My intention is not to pick on the Governor. But it is absolutely pathetic that one in so high an office appears so utterly unaware of what is really involved in a contemporary issue. We are going to lose more and more of our freedom to make our own decisions in our own lives, unless we stop allowing "politically correct" bullies to intimidate those who should have the character to defend the liberty they were sworn to uphold.

Trump won Georgia with Cruz second.
Rubio won in some metro Atlanta counties where the big corporations who opposed the law are based. Rubio also won votes in other places where there’s big business or centers of government like the Houston and Austin areas, plus Benton County, Arkansas where Wal-Mart (CEO Doug McMillon opposed to religious freedom legislation).
Governor Deal is on the side of Rubio, the GOPe and the corporatists of the “Cheap Labor Express”.
Atlanta suburbs are very transplant oriented and Atlanta is north Georgia nowadays
Funny though in tony Buckhead .....restaurants like Blue Ridge Grill are awash in old school southern accents like mine

And Trump won Georgia as the legislators saw and they voted for this bill, not enough to override a veto, but enough voted for it to make themselves look good.
Now Deal gets to veto the bill and keep the corporate elites happy.
