Ted Cruz has been accused of having at least five mistresses, including CNN anchor and former Cruz employee Amanda Carpenter. The media claims Cruz has denied these accusations.
Cruz is lying, according to multiple trial lawyers and experts on persuasion. His lies are hard to spot, because his lies are also truthful.
Consider what Cruz said in response to the news story:
“Let me be clear this National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.”
Let’s look at what Cruz did not say. Cruz could have said, “I have never cheated on my wife.” Why didn’t he?
Consider the oath witnesses take before testifying. “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” Isn’t that redundant?
Ted Cruz is accused of having had an affair with five women. He could say, “That’s a lie. I did not have five mistresses.” If Cruz did have one mistress, then he’d have told the truth (he didn’t have five) but not the whole truth (he had one).

Remember the old joke that goes “its only 99% of lawyers that give the rest a bad name?” We have been burned too many times by other Ivy league lawyers faking being a conservative. John Roberts, Paul Ryan, etc. The DC crowd has it down to an art to create the perception of conservationism to get elected.
So when Cruz popped up rational people were cautious in embracing him - he could be an honest Ivy league lawyer (extremely rare) or just another DC insider playing us for fools. The key is his honesty, If he was manipulative dishonest etc like the rest of the DC faux conservatives crowd then we would know he was just another DC insider playing us for fools again.
As the campaign unfolded his actions, from the Carson deception to the fake summonses to the most recent planned attack on Trump and his wife all while playing lawyer games of deflection parsing, attacking to deflect etc. tipped the balance for many against the possibility hes a rare Ivy League DC insider lawyer who is honest and for America not just the usual beltway destruction of America.
As the details of his private life (Wife is NAU anti-American globalist, etc) and prior mostly hidden actions such as where Cruz drafted much of the Bush Amnesty stuff, helped craft the North American Union stuff gave out teddy bares etc. raised red flags with many who love this country.
Now that hes showing his true colors by wrongly attacking Trump for nothing more then political gain. Insulting Christian values by his conduct almost daily and being deceptive in his communications it makes people angry at him.
Most do not care if the affairs claim is true or not, What we care about is his lying to us about who he was and what he really wants to do to our country.
So its not about the Adultery, its about the Fruit of the tree Cruz has shown us as to who and what he appears to really be - another just another Ivy League lawyer playing conservative for fools to gain power.

Voted for TPA.
Passed out teddy bears to illegals.
Wanted a 500% increase for H1B visas.
Wants to bring in muzzle migrants.

But what embarrasses me is how many on FR WANT to hate Cruz for daring to differ from their Messiah.

Those of us who supported or support Cruz know he’s flawed. We also are not afraid to be Critical of certain votes by him like the Corker Bill. We also understand if he was the nominee he would have to work hard to win the general and that he could lose. And we understand that if this story does turn out to be true, Cruz is done
Trumpers, OTOH, hold Trump accountable for nothing. All his past statements, positions, donations are to be dismissed. Just believe what he’s telling us now. They don’t accept the idea that he could lose the election. They believe the general election is already won and all the primaries and campaigning are mere formalities. Polls that show otherwise are false and are propaganda by the MSM. Polls that show Trump beating his opponents however, are gospel.
I get the anger at the GOPe as they have earned it. And Trump, to his credit, has effectively tapped into it better than any other candidate. But at some point the emotional side as got to give way to a certain amount of reason. Or at least, an equal balance of emotion and reason
Not all those who are voting for Trump are the way as I described. But too many are

That said, Donald Trump could have responded to Cruz with sympathy and trust. Say something like ‘I have met Ted Cruz, I have spent time with him, his wife, their kids. Ted is a family man and I can't imagine anything like this being remotely true.’
With a simple statement like that, he would have 1) soothed over some of the relationship with Cruz supporters and 2) if any part of it was actually true, his sympathetic statement would have buried Cruz once and for all. Maybe because of Trumps own past he just couldn't say it.
I don't like what this primary season has done to the republicans as a party and the candidates themselves. Sad. But worse yet is what I have seen FreeRepublic denigrate into. FR is such a habit for me, a source of truth and camaraderie, but these last couple months...not our best moment...
Also, Ms. Carpenter has tweeted the there are fake Twitter account(s) popping up for both her and her husband, and that “he” (presumably the husband) is taking steps to get those accounts shut down.
