Maybe Donald Trump isn’t behind the Ted Cruz “sex scandal” story leak to the National Enquirer after all.
According to The Daily Beast, “for months and months, anti-Cruz operatives have pitched a variety of #CruzSexScandal stories to a host of prominent national publications.”
One such outlet was Breitbart News, which was shown “a compilation video of Cruz and a woman other than his wife coming out of the Capitol Grille restaurant and a hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” a source inside the publication told The Daily Beast. (Leave it to a politician to keep a standardized booty call schedule.)
The Breibart source confirmed that they’d received the video from “a Rubio ally,” but ultimately decided against running the story because, “There was no way to verify the claims.”

All of what you conjecture fits the Clinton crime system to a tee. The story pits the opposition against each other in a moral dilemma ... slick used the Monica crap to divert attention from his selling our nuclear secrets to the Chicoms, so they know it works with folks who claim some moral high ground.
I doubt that any of the allegations against either Rubio or Cruz were or are unknown to any of the political operatives involved with this election cycle. It is all an evolving and changing political game that some are in for fun and others seriously intent on destroying this Republic as we know it.

Big time screw up by GOPe ( so what else is new). They were to sit on the Cruz affair til much later AFTER Cruz was to be used as a useful tool to deny delegates to Trump. But sprung the story too soon in effect increasing Trumps chances of hitting the 1236. Shot themselves in the head on this one
Why now? Cruz tried to get Rubio to join him but wouldn’t promise the veep slot.

Cruz was trying for a joint Cruz/Rubio ticket. When Rubio completely dismissed it, he decided to throw the turd in the punch bowl.

That is something everyone knows occurs, and nobody has been willing or able to prove.
Those on the inside have a wealth of incentives to say nothing. Those on the outside can't see in.
But if somebody has found a way to crack that wall of silence it would be a Pulitzer for sure.
My take - Rubio was wanting to use it in the event he made some kind of showing in Florida, but that didn't happen.
I don't think Rubio had anything to do with it's release now, either. Anonymous threatened to release evidence days before the NE ran with it, and NE not only already knew about the story, they had also had time to investigate it further to see if anything panned out.
I think Rubio is planning a come back at convention.

Sounds simple enough right? Of course Fiorina’s PAC will not admit TED’s PAC gave them money to hush up, who would admit to something like that without a grand jury?
But.. I wonder how many people will flip if indictments pop up (maybe during the primary if Ted was the nominee) from the fed accusing Fiorina’s camp of blackmailing a sitting US Senator.
THAT’s where Ted would get crucified. No matter if the allegations were true or not, if Ted was the nominee it would be slow walked by the DOJ all through the primary.
Libs have a double standard, that is they can overlook Clinton’s investigation, but an investigation into a preacher/sinner candidate getting blackmailed by another GOP camp would be too sensational.
It would crush him.
