The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has asked a Ted Cruz super PAC to explain why it gave $500,000 to another super PAC supporting one of his Republican rivals.
According to financial disclosures from June, Keep the Promise I - one of four separate committees backing Cruz - gave half a million dollars to CARLY for America, the political action committee supporting Carly Fiorina.
Super PACs are legally allowed to give money to other super PACs - they are only prohibited from donating directly to any political campaign. But it's unusual for one of these groups to give money to an opponent, especially when the candidate it supports is still in the race.

The CBS story is from October 2015, isn’t it?
Not only that,,Cruz gave it to Fiorina WITHOUT EXPLANATION. He basically thumbs his nose at his contributors and finances a rival candidate without the basic courtesy or respect to explain it!
And not a PEEP from the people who sent him their hard-earned money.
That’s just mind-boggling really.
“Yup. It means the media smells blood in the water and this is only the beginning. Cruz is boxed in now. He needs to come clean and just admit everything.”.
Is that the left wing media?
Oh you’re correct. I did not notice the date. Damn!
There are still so many questions about this,,
When Sarah PAC started donating money to a candidate I didn’t approve of in 2012, I asked for my money back. Didn’t get it, but they did cancel my automatic $25 per month donation to Sarah PAC.
Anyone who thinks that candidates don’t ignore the law and coordinate with their super PACs probably also believes in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
I really do not understand why the Cruz supporters are not demanding an explanation of this money transfer. If Cruz doesn’t know, then why isn’t he demanding an answer?
Why Carly? Why not Rubio? Kasich? Carson?
Isn’t there at least ONE Cruz supporter that would like answers to this?
“The hair is something that could be changed but it is Trumps choice of style A face is not the same thing at all. Trump was just downright cruel with that remark and the fact that you defend that tells me something about you, too. Everyone of the candidates ran because they thought they had something to offer. To mock someones looks lowered the level of discourse another notch. And it seems to me that whenever the level has been lowered it was Trump who did it.”
Well here YOU are continuing the discussion. Whose fault is that? Is Trump forcing you along this line of conversation? Aren’t there more important issues to discuss?
Cruz believes he is above the law.
Cruz had nothing to do with this and has nothing he can say.
SuperPACs are not to have any communications with the candidate.
“When the MSM picks up the story its not a good sign...”
They will do it with more gusto when Hillary brings it up.
He can ask. He communicate. It isn’t against the law except in matters of directing the money.
Why isn’t he asking the question? Why aren’t any of his supporters asking the question? It’s been several months now.
Cruz didn’t even give a dollar to Carly.
Don’t lie. I’m a Trump supporter and your comment just shows idiocy.
It’s the PACS we are talking about.
Sorry if the shorthand got you confused. Cruz doesn’t care that his donor monies are going to a rival?
You can take your insults and stick them!
The question doesn’t change,,ask the FEC. The point is not affected.
I'll predict right now that Ted Cruz does not run for re-election to the US Senate.
“Nobody is looking into the Clinton foundation for the bribery machine it clearly was”
Actually I think that is part of the FBI investigation.
Thank God. I am sure she and the girls benefit from that.
Most lawyers do...especially politicians!
By the way, it doesn’t matter who supports who. If someone is donating money to a PAC or campaign to support a candidate,,then they have the RIGHT to know why that money is being given to a rival candidate.
That’s the friggin’ point.
Jerk.
I was skeptical of the whole Cruz mistress deal until I saw this aspect. Sorry Cruzers, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
