Trump would consider letting Japan and South Korea build nuclear arsenals

Donald Trump would consider allowing Japan and South Korea to build their own nuclear arsenals instead of depending on the U.S. for their protection against North Korea and China, he said in an interview with The New York Times published Saturday.

“There’ll be a point at which we’re just not going to be able to do it anymore,” Trump said, pointing at what he calls a “severely depleted” military.

“We have nuclear arsenals which are in very terrible shape,” he said. “They don’t even know if they work.”

“If the United States keeps on its path, its current path of weakness, they’re going to want to have that anyway with or without me discussing it, because I don’t think they feel very secure in what’s going on with out country,” he said of Japan and South Korea.

Trump said the U.S. cannot always “be the policeman of the world” and said North Korea “probably” has nuclear weapons

Good catch. The press is always distorting what he says. He said he thinks they will eventually want nuclear weapons. That’s certainly different from what the headline claims. The craziest thing is that some of the commenters on the article at The Hill are even claiming that this article shows that Trump wants to give our nuclear weapons technology to Japan and South Korea! So many arguments against Trump from all sides are based on pure straw men arguments. He’d probably be 10-20% higher in the polls, if there weren’t so many lies spread about him and his positions.

A world that has multiple power centers is an unstable world.

Well then, we've been globally unstable since 1949 when the Soviets set off their first nuke 'Joe 1'. It's been all downhill since then. Fortunately, United States military and nuclear superiority has kept the peace although the 'RATS and the current treasonous sack o' sh*t in the White House are doing all they can to leave us defenseless in that regard.

Trump is an unstable man who might be even more dangerous as president than Hillary.

Any Japan watcher knows they quietly already have at least 7 fission weapons, probably more like two dozen.

When you consider how much the Japanese hate the demean any Korean, the thought of Pugsley having nucs without Japan have a equal basic load is simply unfathomable to any senior Japanese political or military figure, regardless of party.

“I suspect we know if they still work...”

You can’t be too sure. Maybe we should pull a couple of random samples out of inventory and test them on Iran.

Actually we don’t. It was recently reported that when several of our older front-line nuclear warheads recently came into Pantex for rebuild and rework (which they absolutely must have on a regular basis) there were no technicians that knew how to work on them, no documentation available on what needed to be done, and no idea what materials needed to be used. Much like what happened with the F1-type Saturn V engines - we don’t know how to make those any more either. NASA is literally having to reverse engineer the F1 engine as we speak.

Additionally, the Obama Administration quietly admitted in 2014 that the US nuclear arsenal had become a shambles under their stewardship and demanded more money to fix it:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2014/11/14/pentagon-wants-at-least-7-5-billion-to-fix-nuclear-weapons-programs/

The implication is that things are now so bad we *don’t* know which will work or not.

They don’t. But they’re what’s referred to as a ‘six week nuclear power’ - they have all the components from a massive civilian nuclear power program to plans and know-how quietly acquired from the US to a delivery system in their space program. So, no, the Japanese don’t have them. If pressed hard, they could *be* a nuclear power in six weeks - they have only to put the parts together.

Um, Japan already effectively has nukes. Lots of them.

Now according to their own laws, they aren’t allowed to have nukes, so the nukes are not assembled. Instead, the elements to make nukes are sitting right next to each other. Insert tab A into slot B...

The missiles work. The warheads might not - we haven’t tested one in decades and as recently reported the warheads are in disrepair.
