Mr. Trump’s views, as he explained them, fit nowhere into the recent history of the Republican Party: He is not in the internationalist camp of President George Bush, nor does he favor President George W. Bush’s call to make it the United States’ mission to spread democracy around the world. He agreed with a suggestion that his ideas might be summed up as “America First.”
“Not isolationist, but I am America First,” he said. “I like the expression.” He said he was willing to reconsider traditional American alliances if partners were not willing to pay, in cash or troop commitments, for the presence of American forces around the world. “We will not be ripped off anymore,” he said.

Everything I read about the way Trump’s mind works makes me want to stand-up and cheer. Finally, we have a real American man running for President! Finally!!!!

The Nixon comparison is a ridiculous stretch by the reporter. Have not all great leaders and generals in history said “unpredictability” (”element of surprise”) is the first rule of success?
All leaders who know how to win, NEVER show their cards or showcase their argument. The art of the deal. Trumps opponents and the media are so upset theta they cannot convince Trump to expose all of his specifics when it comes to negotiating with people what want to see America in last place. Trumps worldview is America First. America is the youngest country that has dominated much older countries in terms of pursuit of happiness. That is why everyone wants to move to our freedom loving capitalist society, except some of those moving here, want the opportunity our nations history offers, but then they want to segregate themselves into having their mini homeland country on US soil. Doesn’t work that way. America First is one reason Trump will likely be the next President of the United States.

Lol, that’s what it comes down to. Every election all the candidates promise all the solutions. At this point, at least, what Trump is promising makes the most sense. So if that is the criteria then Trump appears to be the best choice. If he can build the wall and stop our country from being used as a doormat by every one else then I will vote for him in 2020 too.

Sounds good to me. We’re heavily in debt and the middle class has nothing to show for it. The crooks in the Ruling Class are rolling in dough and want more.

I make it a point to go in the opposite direction as the NY Times. They probably endorsed Trump just to mess with my mind.
In the history of this nation, we have done more for the world than any other single nation, and more than any collection of nations. When disasters strike, it is the US that is there. Our foreign "gifts" of tax dollars to the collective world states is astronomical. Many of those we have backed and supported have turned around and stabbed us in the back and their populace have rallied and condemned America.
Pull back the gravy train without strings and teach them that he who pays the piper calls the tune.
Perhaps Trump has read Sun Tzu.
