I agree with you absolutely. Actually, there were plenty of staff with big badges, actively helping if you looked lost, but no real security if you know what I mean. It is impossible to be 100% protected but just a couple of guards, fully armed, in the right place, would be a big deterrent. Heck, you could have driven a bus load of attackers right in.

Just about an hour ago the train station at Hoofdorp (near the Amsterdam airport, Schiphol) was evacuated, hermetically sealed and an arresting team is in place. Buses are not allowed to go from Hoofdorp to Schiphol.
