The aversion to Donald Trump is so strong among Utah Mormons that if the Republican frontrunner secures the partys presidential nomination, it could produce a general election outcome that has not happened in half a century: the state could go blue.
The Bible says if youve got a wicked leader, the nation suffers, said Chris Herrod, a former Utah state representative and a Utah campaign coordinator for Ted Cruz. Im not saying Donald Trump is wicked, but for most Utahns, the moral character of a leader makes a big difference.
At the states high-stakes GOP caucuses on Tuesday, political experts say many conservative Mormon voters like Herrod will be motivated by their distaste for the real estate billionaires vulgar style, bombastic comments and outlandish anti-immigration policies fueling an anyone-but-Trump mentality that has spread across the political spectrum in the very red state.
A new Deseret News/KSL poll found Trump would lose to Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders in Utah, while Kasich or Cruz would both win the state by sizeable margins against either Democrat.

A religion that had a basic theology that included polygamy is upset because Trump had 3 wives?
Trick question - how many marriages has Mormon Marie Osmond had? (Bonus question - how many Gay Pride parades did she participate in before she had her most recent temple marriage?)
LOL
The Mormons were going to vote for their good friend Jimmy Earl Carter in 1980..
but he was “persecuting” them to allow blacks to join their cult and for the male blacks to be full “priesthood holders”
so in 1978 the Mormon god changed his mind and decided that black males (not women thou) were OK after all and could join
the Mormons were so mad at Carter that they actually voted for the one they hated with a passion Ronald Reagan
:)
At least it has islam beat on that.
It also teaches that Christ is eternal, with no beginning or end and not a created spirit being.
Man will never go to the moon...
so let it be written so let it be so...
thus said the profit of the Mormons...
LOL
>>>These so-called conservatives are not bothered by Hillarys questionable character.
I think they are. In polls on which candidates are honest and trustworthy, Trump is the only one Hillary can beat.
They should support Trump, since he’s had several women - and unlike Bill Clinton, he married all of his.
Exactly! What religion promotes someone like Hillary?
Presumably they associate Trump with gambling. The difference between Utah and Nevada is quite apparent especially when you cross the border on the I-80 between Wendover UT and West Wendover NV.
However the large casinos in West Wendover must be for Salt Lake City folk who want to gamble because there aren’t many other people around there.
And if Utahns don’t want to gamble, then they should choose Trump over any Democrat.
The mormons want to fill the pews with documented and undocumented Democrats.
“Why Utah Mormons’ distaste for Trump could turn a red state reluctantly blue”
Or not.
Glenn Beck used to be a great resource, from teaching American historical footnotes in an entertaining manner to clearly showing on the chalk board the relationships between all the different NGOs and federal government and the rotating door between them.
In the past year or two, he’s gone off the deep end. His endless medical hysterias and “I have a super deep secret” he never revealed was likely the start.
Religiosity is not the same as wisdom. What did Jesus say about straining out the gnat and letting the camel get through. People can *act* religious but not be very good people.
I don’t think Mormons think for themselves.
Man he was a genius!!!!
I remember when he wrote about the great Second Coming at Adam-Ondi-Ahman in Missouri! Who cares if the Bible says His feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem!
I’m surprised there aren’t more people turned off by the man’s vulgarity and immorality, but hey, we live in a truly base America now.
At least he didn’t have three wives at one time. How many wives did Joseph Smith have?
I get the impression they won't vote at all.
Had a Mormon girl (very nice young lady) who recently announced she got to meet several of their “prophets” - it’s her father who’s pumping this stuff.
I seem to recall about 18-32 if you take all the diaries.
But he was a lightweight compared to Brigham Young - some 52 or 54.
That’s a lot of birthday cake each year. And candles.
