Arizona's primary is Tuesday, but more than half the ballots have already been cast including for candidates who've left the race.
By the time Ted Cruz arrived Friday at the tiny border town of Douglas for his first Arizona event of 2016, he was already too late for the hundreds of thousands of Republicans who had already voted.
Election day is still two days away in Arizona but well more than half of Republicans expected to vote in the states Tuesday primary have already cast their ballots complicating Cruz's attempts overtake Donald Trump as both make a late push for the states lucrative, winner-take-all prize of 58 delegates.
A candidate cannot win Arizona if they dont do well in early balloting, said Nathan Sproul, an Arizona Republican strategist who had served as co-chair for Marco Rubios campaign in the state.
Arizona has among the most robust early-voting programs in the country. In Maricopa, the states largest county, early voters in 2016 comprise already nearly 90 percent of the countys total GOP turnout four years ago.

But, let's for the moment say you're right, and the convention indeed turns out to be open.
What do you think Trump supporters would do?
This is the little nugget in all the crap polls of X vs. Clinton. If Trump supporters are disenfranchised by the convention, it won't matter if the nominee is Cruz or Romney. The Republican nominee would be lucky to draw 40% in the general, meaning a huge win by Clinton, which I'm sure the Establishment is well aware of.
I think so. I also think his base goes up when dems are in power and people tune him in for comfort and encouragement.
LOL! Poor fool beat his head through glass and missed seeing the camera!
Very funny cartoon, but I don’t think Ted and Heidi will like it too much.
Hanitty said if the GOPe, via a brokered convention, voids the votes to Trump then he is leaving the party. That’s even if Cruz got the nod.
Rush pushed W Bush in 2000 and Mitt Romney in 2012.
ROFL!!
LOL Exactly!
How about a more recent poll like last Super Tuesday Primary where Cruz did not win a single State???
Man you Cruzbots are dellusional!
we all have to be careful of referring to polls as “facts”
More Common Core math for you Cruzbots???
You say the guy who gets the most votes is the most unfavorable, but the guy in second place is the most favorable???
LOL! Oh okay......(sarcasm off)
You live in fantasy land if you believe that bull.
who in their right mind would think loser Willard will draw any voters, even from Republicans??
Its not like they can screw the electorate, “process” the delegates, and then use the “hold your nose and vote” party loyalty schtick yet again
The Beltway decadents are not in their right minds. They thought JEB was compelling!
What room is he the smartest in at this point?
Pre-Chicago numbers when Cruz decided he no longer supported the first amendment.
He is a better fuller brush salesman or stand in for a charlie mccarthy dummy.
Cruz’s whole campaign boils down to bashing trump. It’s boring and childish. And after Tuesday when Cruz lost 6 contests, Cruz still repeats the same trump bashing. Cruz is running a horrible campaign. Anyone else who lost the entire south and lost every contest Tuesday would have been laughed out of the primary. But Cruz is being used. He just doesn’t realize it.
See, they rushed this so they didn't have the mask on yet. Any scenario other than Trump - Bishop Dullard, Elmer Gantry, Beezelbub, MailManJr, Deez Nuts - yields the result the GOPe wants: Shitlery.
Trump OTOH wins the presidency, but could reduce the GOPe to a 50-50 Senate thru crossover ticket-splitters who still have gridlock as a priority (yea, it's a Dem thing too). Note all the venom against Trump is out of the Palpatine-led Senate - they've already polled this, they know.

Gasp! Have you seen Trump’s negative ratings?
Exclusive: Joseph Farah notes previous GOP nominee who went on to landslide victory
We heard that about North Carolina, Illinois, North Carolina and many other places. The only thing real is keeping Cruz from winning 50 percent in Utah. I hope trump can. Trump will take AZ.
