Arizona's primary is Tuesday, but more than half the ballots have already been cast including for candidates who've left the race.
By the time Ted Cruz arrived Friday at the tiny border town of Douglas for his first Arizona event of 2016, he was already too late for the hundreds of thousands of Republicans who had already voted.
Election day is still two days away in Arizona but well more than half of Republicans expected to vote in the states Tuesday primary have already cast their ballots complicating Cruz's attempts overtake Donald Trump as both make a late push for the states lucrative, winner-take-all prize of 58 delegates.
A candidate cannot win Arizona if they dont do well in early balloting, said Nathan Sproul, an Arizona Republican strategist who had served as co-chair for Marco Rubios campaign in the state.
Arizona has among the most robust early-voting programs in the country. In Maricopa, the states largest county, early voters in 2016 comprise already nearly 90 percent of the countys total GOP turnout four years ago.

No. They will drop him.
It’s why El Rushbo has become as popular as public pay phones. The blast wave detonated by the Trump campaign blew lots of masks off.
Internal polling from a Cruz super pac. Yeah those are some seriously trustworthy numbers there. /s
If your candidate drops out, then you supported a dud.
Ya get one corrupt Bush on board, and you got the entire dynasty behind ya. Trust me.
Are you saying that Trump gave the $700,000 to Soros to give to Kasich? You are so delusional. Kasich is there to ensure a brokered convention for Yebbie or Mitt. And you play along.
Absolute nonsense ...where is your proof ?
Cruz has a great message for just a portion of his party. It is telling that his only hope is to cast himself as the antiTrump to try to expand his voters.
Those voters have heard Cruz many times already and not bought what he’s selling. Even a large number of evangelicals didn’t buy.
Yes, he's running on fumes and small loans.
His campaign expenses this cycle have already surpassed those of Bush. Feet on the ground costs an enormous sum of money.
Money wasted.
I think Cruz thinks if the GOPe hands him the nomination, it means they want him to win
I think it is tantamount to letting Ted run against Hillary only to be hung out , legally gutted and bankrupted and run out if politics by an onslaught of democrat lawsuits, ( aka being “ “ Palinized”)
Here Ted, catch this hot potato !
And buh bye Ya loser. Good riddance
Signed, your” friends’ in the Senate and House
Exactly right ...talk radio will never be the same after most of them have outed themselves and walked the plank for the GOPe ...Levin , Beck, and Rush ...Hannity has been smart , he has stayed as neutral as possible
Don’t forget Laura Ingraham.
There is no proof. Some of these folks cough up comments like an involuntary burps. It just comes out without thought or warning.
Tokyo Rose would be proud of some of this BS.
Forgive my ignorance, but how does such an event occur when there is a prohibition on direct coordination?
But he's the GOPe, Wall Street, Globalist, Illuminati candidate. He should be swimming in money.
You are right ...she has been wonderful...Savage was all in for Trump from the beginning ...I think Savage has one of the best shows out there
