Arizona's primary is Tuesday, but more than half the ballots have already been cast including for candidates who've left the race.
By the time Ted Cruz arrived Friday at the tiny border town of Douglas for his first Arizona event of 2016, he was already too late for the hundreds of thousands of Republicans who had already voted.
Election day is still two days away in Arizona but well more than half of Republicans expected to vote in the states Tuesday primary have already cast their ballots complicating Cruz's attempts overtake Donald Trump as both make a late push for the states lucrative, winner-take-all prize of 58 delegates.
A candidate cannot win Arizona if they dont do well in early balloting, said Nathan Sproul, an Arizona Republican strategist who had served as co-chair for Marco Rubios campaign in the state.
Arizona has among the most robust early-voting programs in the country. In Maricopa, the states largest county, early voters in 2016 comprise already nearly 90 percent of the countys total GOP turnout four years ago.

Hannity is a secret Cruz supporter but he has been more than fair with all the candidates and given them equal time on his radio and TV show. His relationship with Trump goes back years, so while Sean may not support Trump’s candidacy, they do get along on a personal level. At least he’s not full of the vitriol and hate being exhibited by Levin and especially Beck.
Savage has been great!
And Trump has been in more beds than a 5 dollar hooker.
Your reasoning is faulty. Kasich does nothing but ensure a brokered convention. He prevents useful votes. Almost 100,000 people in. Ohio choose to vote for Kasich who can’t win. If he were gone Cruz and Trump would both do better.
If the GOPe had gone as hard against The Won as they’re going against Trump, we would have had a Republican president for the last eight years.
One of his close aides has said that Cruz will pull an upset on Trump in AZ because of his ‘ground game,’ no doubt quietly aided by McCain. Not sure why he has been so relatively quiet about this election. Not like him at all.
Would that be “Lard McCain”?
It’s not interesting it’s delusion. Take out the NY and NJ delegates and give Cruz 100% of all the rest and he’s still 10 short. AND that’s out the window Tuesday in AZ. Pure delusion.
What is the source for these ratings? Is there a link?
I LOVED the reply at conservative treehouse bankrupTED!!!!
Of course, it's just a theory. But why else would Kasich be campaigning in Utah, if not to attempt to keep Cruz under the WTA threshhold of 50%?
I still think Cruz will win Utah. Fealty to a church leader (Romney) will carry the day.
The question is whether he can be held to less than 50%.
Trump will win Arizona in a romp. If he can eat into Utah's delegation, that's a big win.
Cruz has stopped Cruz already.
They also know they are too late, which is why they are rolling out protesters. That just increased Trump voters.
Now the GOPe will try to do convention rule changes, among them the sycophant John Kasich, supported by Soros.
Do not rule out assassination, may Trump's security prevail. Desperate people do desperate things. Meanwhile Trump is becoming the hero of the People. He is unstoppable.
LOL!
NO, but he had his daughter Megan do it for him...
Under no scenario can McCain take action to alienate a huge chunk of Republican voters, which he'd do if he came out against (or to be fair... for) Trump.
Like all politicians, his overriding loyalties are to his own self-preservation.
...and they are very heavily tied to the Clinton Crime Family and Soros...
That’s odd since El Rushbo seems to have no problems with Bush White House sleepovers.
No doubt.
