Ted Cruz has a significant lead over his two Republican challengers in the days leading up to the Utah caucuses — and yes, that includes Donald Trump.
A Y2 Analytics survey released on Saturday shows Cruz with the support of 53 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers. If Cruz were to get at least 50 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s caucus, he’d capture all 40 of the state’s GOP delegates.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich came in second in the poll with 29 percent, and Trump followed him at 11 percent.
The survey also found that 64 percent of Utah Republicans believe Trump will weaken the Republican Party as its nominee. Among those who said they wouldn't support Trump in the Utah caucuses, a majority say they would be unable to vote for the GOP front-runner in November should he be the party's nominee.
Cruz has been campaigning in the state and won the endorsement of a close colleague, Utah Sen. Mike Lee. He also earned the support of 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, who told his Facebook followers on Friday that he was voting for Cruz in an effort to deny Trump a majority of delegates ahead of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Trump, meanwhile, has launched a last-minute TV ad campaign against Cruz, spending roughly $160,000 on TV ads in the state ahead of Tuesday’s contest.
Trump continued his assault on Cruz Friday night when he again accused the Texas senator of dishonesty and said “Mormons don’t like liars.” A majority of Utah residents identify as Mormon — around 62 percent, according to the latest U.S. Census figures.

But it’s something that this crowd needs to hear – that Utah needs to hear. The body of the priesthood is known to stand up when the Constitution hangs by a thread,” Beck said. ...
“I joined many times. What held me through was the prophesy that the Constitution will hang by a thread, and this People would remember what our Founders did. It is our responsibility to stand for the Constitution,” Beck said.
Ted Cruz and the audience then gave Beck a standing ovation.
The famous Mormon prophecy Beck was referring to is known as the “White Horse Prophesy,” which was purportedly made by the Mormon founder Joseph Smith in 1843.

When I started dating my wife both her girls had been abducted by the Mormans. They weren’t even going to let them come to our wedding. The bizarre thing about it is that the man who was behind it had been a hunting buddy of mine. He asked to borrow my Internet connection several times telling me that they did not have it in their home. Ends up he was downloading nude photos of girls who looked like them so he could have a preview of what his new wives would look like in the afterlife. We eventually got them back and they are now both married to wonderful young men. Needless to say, I have no use for the cult.
Mormons aren’t even Christian. They say that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer.
This poll has strange numbers, all previous polls had Cruz and Trump much closer, okay now that Cruz is supported by Romney and other Mormons I can understand if Cruz moves up. What doesn’t make sense is Kasich gaining by so much in Utah. He was pretty low in all previous polls, it was Cruz, Trump then Kasich was barely in there.
Utah is going to have online voting so that should really increase turnout.
The Mormons I know all support Trump, in fact a woman I went to school with posted her support for Trump on Facebook the day after Romney announced support for Cruz. The other Mormons replying to her post all supported Trump too. I realize these people are not movers and shakers in the LDS, they are just ordinary people but seems odd when I hear Cruz has the Mormon vote tied in a neat package.
I do believe Cruz will likely win Utah, but I don’t believe the numbers will look like this.

It would be a mistake to nominate someone who can barely win 12% of the vote in a conservative state like Utah,
It would be nice if there were other polls to substantiate this one. A little odd this one just pops up 2 days before voting and no other polls substantiate it. Kind of convenient.
If he can just keep Cruz under 50 percent would be helpful. Keeping Cruz from the 50 percent mark is paramount.
Still we don’t want cult members picking our president.

Only 29% in this poll said they would vote for Trump if he is the nominee. You can write off Utah if Trump is the nominee.
Trump has alienated too many gop voters and more than you can imagine will never fall in line. The purple states would turn blue. As much as you love him close to the same percentage despise and don’t trust him.
I believe that Revelation is the last book of the Bible and that says it all. Mormonism is a diversion and a deception, wherever it came from. Sorry, friends, there are Christian principles espoused and practiced by Mormons, but there is a lot of excess baggage they are carrying around.
They will not vote for Mrs. Clinton, that is for sure, unless she converts to Mormonism. Now wouldn’t that be a surprise.

Didn’t the Mormons try to set up a Theocracy in the middle of the United States and replace the Constitution of the United States with a Council of Fifty as a central ruling body which would mostly consist of, of course, LDS Mormon leadership and also allow a few “prominent citizens” even if they aren’t Mormon but have a lot of money on “The Council”?
In this system the leaders of the LDS Church would have important dominant secular roles within the political machinations as they channel what they said would be God’s will, which of course only these Mormon leaders have the ability to do. After God’s will is channeled to the “Kings” (the “leaders” of this system identifying as Kings viz Thy Kingdom Come and no need to wait), and the law passed down from directly above to the leaders, the others are allowed to haggle over whether they will follow the law or not but of course if you decide not to you have free will to move to California. If there is no consensus on such matters in the Council, then whoever is the Leader of the Mormon State system that is based on the old Cunstitution of the United States, sort of, but which replaces it, then the Leader would “seek the will of the Lord” and break the deadlock through divine revelation, done deal. This would be a “Theocratic Republic” or “Theocratic Democracy” thus a “Theodemocracy” and is what Glenn Beck believes in, and the father of Ted Cruz is not too far from these ideas except he believes Ted Cruz is anointed as one of these “Kings” to take the booty of the non-members in a “Great Transfer of Wealth” and give the booty to the “priests” like himself.
So this 1800’s thing in Mormonism and Cruzism today sort of jive, I wonder if there are a lot of Beckers in Utah ready to want to setup the new Theocratic Republic who are voting for Cruz?
The only thing that is a bit unnerving about this thought is, this entire Theocracy is entirely incompatible with the Constitution of the United States, in fact it wants to replace it with a new one, and it sounds pretty “statist” to me even if rich and prominent non-sect members are allowed, in a minority capacity of course, to be on The Council of 50, but it might be generous to be expanded to the Council of 100 and perhaps include some foreigners on it considering Mormon leaders can come from other countries.
However, it turned out in Illinois the people started to “rebel” against Joseph Smith’s “theocratic kingdom” which was thought to be seeking to setup a “country within a country”, and it got really bad and folks getting thrown out of the State as a threat to the current Constitution.
Today it seems, however, some may still support getting rid of the current Constitution. But I am wondering, how is all of this “conservative”? Everything is being replaced and not conserved.
Mormons are some strange people. Went to college with several and they’re just different. Can’t really explain it. Just odd.
Maybe we see Cruz as the liar, Romney as the backstabber and underminer of the “voice of the people”, and Beck as the potty-mouthed “learned who thinks he is wise” guy who considers himself to be a prophet.

His conclusion was:
“Anyone can be saved, including Trump, but he has to accept the gift of salvation through repentance. Trump’s past multiple divorces or recent mispronunciation of “2 Corinthians” isn’t what most concerns me, it is his denial of the central teachings of Christianity, while claiming to be a Christian. A Christian that does not ask God for forgiveness is not a Christian. God does not save people who think that they don’t need saving.
I pray that Trump comes to an understanding of the Christian faith – both for his sake and the countries. One day, I hope he can understand that lives can be transformed by Christ in a moment. And with that, apologize for his nasty remarks about Carson and the work of Christ.
Some may argue that because Trump is running for President, and not pastor, that all of this doesn’t matter. I disagree for two reasons. First it shows a hypocrisy where he claims to be a Christian yet denies the power of Christ to change people. Second, it shows a disrespect for the Christian faith – a faith held by over 200 million Americans.
Now I don’t require that the President believe just as I do, but I expect them to not treat my faith with dismissive mocking. Trump’s denying of the power of Christ is a slap in the face to all Christians whose lives have been transformed. I want a President who won’t deride my Christian faith.”
