en. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is facing what may be the toughest reelection of his Senate career in an unpredictable presidential year, when many voters are angry with Washington.
Early polls show McCain tied with his Democratic challenger, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.), at around 40 percent despite having nearly 100-percent name recognition in the state he has represented in either the Senate or House since 1983.
The basic problem for John McCain is the same kind of thing that faces a lot of incumbents right now. Hes been there a long time. People are leery of Washington. They dont like Washington, said former Republican Rep. Jim Kolbe, who served 18 years alongside McCain in Arizonas congressional delegation.
This is a very tough challenge, probably the toughest race that he's faced since he was first elected, Kolbe added. McCains path to victory is complicated by the likelihood the GOP ticket will be headed by Donald Trump, who has an overwhelmingly negative rating among Hispanic voters, a powerful and growing electoral bloc in Arizona.

Good question!
The media doesnt want people to know there is an alternative.
It’s not personal but all the RINO’s need to retire...
I hope he is facing defeat, not reelection.
“Governor Brewer can appoint his replacement. I believe she will be governor until 2018.”
Where have you been? Doug Ducey is our governor.
Yes, I corrected it above.
Trump can end McCainiacs career with a few choice words ... I hope he does ...
McCain wants to use the Senate as his retirement home.
One of these days, someone in the MSM will have the guts to point out this guy’s REAL record in the military.
I agree. Kick every damn one of them out!
Thanks for you military service there John.
NOw go to the retirement home and drool there ya baboso.
I hope Kelly beats him badly.
This article is very misleading. It assumes McCain isn’t primaried out.
We have 4 elections this year in AZ. President Primary, Special, Primary, and General.
Our primary isn’t held until Aug. 30th when I hope Kelli Ward retires the old coot.
Let’s hope Kelly Ward wins the primary and then beats the liberal Ann Kirkpatrick in the general.
I look forward to the day this relic is reduced to raving at the local McDonalds with a stained crotch on his Sansa-Belt slacks.
