Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Read post 18. It outlines the story of Ted’s candidacy masterfully.

cruz need 90% of remaining delegates to win. Without CA and NY cruz has zero path to nomination. Its already over, only the delusion think he could still win. Time for him to suspend his campaign

He’s scared and you guys know it! The more Trump has to get past pleasant platitudes and to real answers the worse he looks!

Teddy and Marco working together couldn’t take Trump down. Sorry Teddy, you had your chance.

Off the top of your head name the 1st ten amendments in order..... didn’t think so. Henry Ford once said he doesn’t have to have an encyclopedic memory, he can just hire someone for that. It is the decision maker that matters. Trump has proven he can make decisions and knows how to lead. It’s is not what you know, it is the people you surround yourself with. All that creep you support knows is how to blab, blab, blab, blab, blab, and oh yeah, LIE.

Did anyone ever produce a video hit piece on Cruz during one of these so called “debates”?

I didn’t think so. It’s easy to be bold when you know in advance that the game is rigged.

If Cruz cant win against what you call “a loud chicken”, he is a weak candidate. He was 0 for 5 on March 15th.

Is Cruz projecting?
Is this a scripted line?

Trump looks down on voters? Really?
This media has been complaining for months that DJT speaks at a 6th good are level and is both selling to this common man and alienating their well educated. There have been entire stories about his need to elevate his sspeech from the base level. Heck, Levin just wrote an article about Trump’s populist danger. But now he’s looking down. Pick a hole people.

Does he not realize one of the common complaints among those who watch Cruz speak is that he regularly comes off as condescending. The ‘let me explain this to you since you don’t understand it’ guy. Hence my comment about projection.

.
And anyone who thinks after 12 debates that
a. We need more, or
b. That Trump is afraid
Well, they are just reaching

I believe the point of saturation has been reached.

.
Cruz is playing from behind and he knows it. He’s looking for anything to get press, and anything to get the votes he and his supporters feel they deserve. That’s part of the problem by the way - Cruz comes off, as do many of his supporters (not all of course, maybe not even most, but many) as though they are entitled to the support of certain groups of people. They are upset almost to the point of offense when that support doesn’t materialize.

FWIW, that attitude often has the effect not of persuasion, but something more towards galvanization of opposition.

What is there to learn in Debate #13 that they haven't learned in the past?
++++
Are you serious?

We would get to see how Trump, our future President, stands up in a debate with a true conservative constitutionalist. You may or may not like Cruz but you cannot dispute his depth of knowledge of the Constitution.

Until I see that debate I'm going to accept Cruz's Trump is a Scaredy-Cat Theory.

I think Trump would happy to have a debate on the Constitution, especially the section on the natural born requirement to run for the Presidency.

The next debate should focus on the Constitution. I think Donald needs the extra time to read it.

Why would he bother to read it, when he has no intention to abide by it?

And that's why his apostles worship him. They LOVE the idea that he will be unfettered by constitutional restraints. They have somehow come to believe that their interests coincide with the interests of a big government, silver spoon, east coast liberal wheeler dealer.

Constitution schmonstitution man.

When has Trump ever debated anyone? Which makes sense that he not do so now. So how is he going to handle Hilary? Luckily those “debates’ are not really debates either.

Ted Cruz needs to keep talking. Every time he opens his mouth he drives more voters to Trump.

Lets see, what has Trump done, dozens of nationally televised speeches, attended a dozen biased network debate game shows, moderated by media de facto opponents, given over 75 interviews, he done dozens of nationally broadcasted news conferences on and on, all without teleprompters etc..

And Mr. Cruz says Trump is afraid to debate?

So there ya have it folks...

Fine, do as you wish. Cruz just looks like a desperate fool. He never stood out in any of the debates. Most of the others were far better than Cruz at the debates.

12 circus debates are futile. 1 man-to-man solid policy debate is revealing.
