Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.
Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.
His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters cant figure out that hes not telling [them] the truth, Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evenings The Kelly File on Fox News.
Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event it runs from Sunday to Tuesday and Mr. Trumps schedule would likely have been accommodated.
He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] hes scared to debate, Mr. Cruz said.
And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters, Mr. Cruz said. He thinks theyre gullible and will believe whatever hes saying. So Im going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. Im happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesnt do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesnt have even a basic modicum of knowledge.
Mr. Cruz said hes happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

sure thing Mr. Haney...he’s petrified of you.
And, Ted, he really doesn’t need to ‘debate’ you any more. You NEVER hear the clear frontrunner asking for ‘more debates’ and you never will. You’d understand that if you were a frontrunner.
Oh shaddup Ted. A debate would not help you anymore.
Sen. Goldman “ObamaTRADE” Cruz LOST over and over and over
to Mr. Trump.
There is no fear in Mr. Trump
- only repeated failure by the repeatedly
disingenuous, and saboteur-supporting, impetuous Cruz.
Yeah, he’s really skeered.
Enough with the debates! We had twelve of them already.
What a little weenie-boy Cruz has become. I used to like Ted.
yeah, he “looks down” on those 20,000 people . . . heh, heh.
They’re no longer debates now anyway, they are “gang up and bash Trump shows” usually with Megyn Smug leading the pack.
I think Donald needs the extra time to read it.
Ted,
Haven’t we had enough debates? Besides, we’re not voting for debate team champions.
I'm sick of the Debates too. Their just a show for the mods and other candidates to dog pile on Trump.
Ed
Enough debates, there’ve been too many.
Cruz, along with his tag-team buddy Marco at his side, already had many chances to score a KO on Trump. Cruz never could quite pull it off.
Ultimately all the debates have proven is that Cruz is just another lawyer.
Watta an idiot Cruz is....losing time after time has destroyed all of his cognitive brain cells.
Ted is just sour that he wrote some new material to “roast” Trump and won’t be able to use it. Esp. since funnyman Rubio got the hook.
Of course Trump is scared to debate. He blusters and whines and repeats empty platitudes. Just a few weeks ago he was supposedly dying to take on Cruz one-on-one, but quickly came to his senses and realized he may actually have to debate on substance and policy instead of bumper stickers.
Enough of the dam debates.
cruz, it is over now. Your firewall was massacred .
You have only won 3 primary election states and one being your own with less than 50%.
You failed to win a county in the swing states of FL, VA and some southern states.
You have now got into bed with Bush, Graham and others and you blamed Trump for the rioters causing harm and damage .
It is over, now stop this nonsense and stop showing desperation.
Poor widdle Mr Smugness, can’t get no respect.
He's missing the opportunity to make himself a deal. Once the establishment reaches the acceptance stage, he's going to be cut out.
Trump isn't going to squander political capital on him once he consolidates.
