My Open Letter to Senator Ted Cruz

Senator Cruz,
March 17, 2016

I have been a longtime admirer of yours. Being myself a native Texan, who now lives in Idaho with my wife (with our five kids and eleven grandkids), I have watched and applauded your career there in Texas, in the US Senate, and now while running for President.

We supported you heavily here in Idaho, sending people to your site and explaining away many of the false narrative attacks on you. In Idaho, we gave you a large victory in the Primaries, as you are well aware.

Now I want to do some straight talking and give you my best advice. As a patriotic American, as a brother in Christ, and as a supporter of yours., and as a supporter of yours.

It is not going to be what you want to hear...but I believe it is what you need to hear and what will be best for our country.

There are many members of the GOP Establishment who now, magically, when you are the last viable candidate outside of Donald Trump standing, who want to all of a sudden come to your campaign's aide and help you win.

They will offer you money, they will raise money for you, and they will endorse you.

I would not listen to or trust them as far as I could throw them. They will attempt to use you and then throw you to the crub the first chance they get.

These people would rather have a Hillary Clinton Presidency, with all of the disastrous consequences it would have on our country, and to the Supreme Court, than have either you or Donald Trump as president. They are wholly committed to their own power, as you are well aware. They cannot be emboldened or enabled any longer...in any way.

PLEASE, please, do not go one step down their primrose path.

Now here is the hard part. Like it or not, Donald Trump has clearly tapped into the anger and frustration that so many feel (including myself and almost everyone I know) with the GOP establishment.

He has been able to suck most the air out of this cycle’s campaign.

Despite his brash mannerisms, and his past, he has put forth plans that many people are accepting...and quite frankly, most of them are very similar to your own.

The key with Donald Trump is whether or not he will do them in the long run.

If nominated, we need to make sure he will continue to push them. If elected we need to make sure he will do them.

You, Senator Cruz can be the catalyst to making sure it happens. I know you want to win it this time...heck, I want you to win it this time. But to now push it in order to try and MAKE that happen will be disastrous. I can see this...and I hope you will open your heart to that possibility as well.

At this stage, Trump is either going to get the delegates he needs to win the nomination outright, or he is going to come within a hundred or so of doing so. The GOPe is hoping he can be held just short so that they then can themselves become closely involved in the outcome.

But the American people are voting overwhelmingly to not have them involved at all.

You are going to come in second with a substantial number of delegates. Given the dynamics of this GOP Primary, quite frankly it will be amazing and a minor miracle that your message will have gotten through all of the squelch to put you in this position.

I Urge you Senator, with all my heart, that as soon as it is clear that your total number of delegates and Trump's total number of delegates together make it clear that that the voters in this nation are overwhelmingly choosing non-establishment candidates for the GOP...make a deal with Trump.

Get your candidates pledged to him if he will make you the VP candidate on both on this elections presidential ticket, and on a second presidential ticket should he run for it.

If you do this...and Senator, only you CAN do this...you will accomplish all of the following.

  • You will unite the vast majority of GOP voters.
  • You will deal a mortal blow to the GOPe.
  • You will end all talk of a brokered convention.
  • You will establish a ticket that will win decisively in November.
  • You will set the stage for 16 years of true turnaround in the US.
If you can work with Trump to insure that these things that he has promised, and which are in line with your own desires, happens:
  1. Build the wall/fence.
  2. Fix immigration, dealing decisively with the millions of illegals.
  3. Overturn Obama Care and replace it with Market Centered, all-American solutions.
  4. Rip up the Iran deal.
  5. Redo the income tax towards the type of plan both Trump and you propose.
  6. Get Corporations to bring their work back home, here to the US, substantially lowering their taxes
  7. Rescind all of the illegal/unconstitutional Executive Orders
  8. Decisively defeat ISIS.
  9. Rebuild America's military,
  10. Negotiate and deal internationally from a position of strength.
If we do those things, we win. The American people win. And America will be well on its way to a fundamental turnaround that will dwarf Obama’s fundamental change...and that we desperately need.

Senator Cruz, you can make this happen. I wanted you to win this time...but I do not believe it is possible at this point.

But America can still win. And in the process you can be positioned to become our President later.

I believe this is the best course...I urge you, and I am praying to God in Heaven, that you will seriously consider this course of action.

Yours, as a patriotic American and brother in Christ,

Jeff Head

Here are some links for Franklin Graham speaking on Trump.
Also, a story about Trump attending Grahams 95th birthday. I also found one, yes just one, where Franklin Graham didn’t agree with Trump on Kim Davis. I included that also.

Why would anyone with any self respect make any political deals with Trump at this point? He has repeatedly proved to be an utterly unprincipled sleazy smear artist with an egg shell ego, a cadre of goons, a long history of crony capitalism, and no interest whatsoever in the U.S. Constitution.

Moreover, without ever holding a public office his negatives are higher than Hillary Clinton's!!!! I do not understand why anyone on a site called "Free Republic" would support him at this point. You are being duped.

No, ravina, I am not being duped.

The facts are what they are. Trump, whether you like it or not, or whatever anyone else thinks about it, has tapped into the groundswell against establishment politicians.

We need someone like Cruz to balance that equation out and help unite the p[arty so we can make the best of this situation possible and win in November.

And Ted Cruz is the only one who can do that.

That’s why.

At this point, Cruz is not going to get the delegates needed.

Trump very well could.

If we have a bitter, slug-fest at the convention where a Trump with maybe 1150 or more delegates is denied the nomination, the results will almost assuredly throw the election to Hillary which will be far worse. for our nation

So that is why such a deal should be struck.

You may not like it...heck a lot will not like it...but in order to create the best outcome for our republic in this state of affairs, it is what I hope happens.

I couldn't agree more, ravinson.

The man is unprincipled and immoral, and there are hundreds of examples that he has left in his wake to prove the fact that he stands for nothing other than his own self-aggrandizement and wealth/power accumulation. He has stepped on, and mercilessly slandered, more people (both 'little people' and big ones) on his way to the top than most of us even realize.

The thought of a man as personally principled and firmly rooted in the Constitution as Ted Cruz (the only candidate fully capable of filling Ronald Reagan's shoes who has come along since Reagan left the White House) teaming up with such an unprincipled ogre is unconscionable.

We are not supposed to compromise with evil, not matter the threats or repercussions involved.

Even if all we knew about Donald Trump were his most recent offenses committed against Heidi Cruz, that would be sufficient to disqualify him from holding America's highest office, on grounds that he is a lying, superficial, petulant character assassin.

Unfortunately, he has committed significantly more, and deeper, immoral crimes than this latest one. The count increases daily, and if that fact is not significant enough for the American electorate to turn away from this evil man, then America, unfortunately, deserves the bleak future that will lie ahead, whether it be under a Trump or Clinton presidency. If you place your faith in an unprincipled, characterless candidate (no matter the capital letter behind his/her name) who has no respect for truth or personal integrity, you are rolling a pair of dice whose outcome will be disastrous, at best. History is replete with such examples, but we Americans appear to be slow learners, despite the brilliant, painstaking roadmap laid out for us by our Founders and the unimaginable sacrifices they made in order to author it.

The facts are what they are. Trump, whether you like it or not, or whatever anyone else thinks about it, has tapped into the groundswell against establishment politicians.

A sleazeball who is an enemy of your enemy is not someone you should align with unless absolutely necessary.

If we have a bitter, slug-fest at the convention where a Trump with maybe 1150 or more delegates is denied the nomination, the results will almost assuredly throw the election to Hillary which will be far worse for our nation.

If Trump has only 1150 delegates at the convention that means that 1322 (i.e. the majority) are against Trump. Since Trump hasn't figured out yet that he has to earn the balance he would need on a second (or later) ballot by being fair to his competitors, then he does not deserve the nomination and is not the negotiator he claims to be.

If Hillary gets elected, perhaps the decent Trump supporters will take the time to learn something about math and nomination politics before the next election.

Say what you will.

We can wait and see what the convention brings.

Far better at this point to recognize and drive home the fact that in terms of GOP voters and delegates, well over 70% of both are aligned with the two anti-establishment candidates and for those two candidates to come together and unite the vast majority of voters and slam dunk the GOPe in the process.

That would be best for the GOP and for the country.

Those are my thoughts...others can certainly disagree...but that is what I hope happens.

Well stated! I suspect that Bill Clinton was thrilled when Trump told him he would be seeking the Republican nomination. Since then the Clinton Global Initiative scandal has been shoved into the background to the maximum extent possible and Trump has proven to be such a talented snake oil salesman that he is on verge of conning just enough Republican customers to grease Hillary's White House skids.

Donald Trump is not really part of the GOP and is a well established member of the Manhattan/Atlantic City/Miami/Chicago/Las Vegas cut-throat amoral crony capitalist cabal. He only got in the race to raise his visibility and sell more Trump-stamped products. He's just as hideous as the ugly tatoos that people get when they're not as sober as they should be and after having invested so much in them can't afford the pain or price of removal.

Nonsense, he employs a ton of people in a sticks and bricks business.
He worked hard and negotiated smart.

Both being “anti establishment” is not enough. There are serious differences. There may be others we could all support.
