Ted Cruz vows to mock Trump at AIPAC for skipping Fox News debate
CNN ^ | March 16, 2016

Ted Cruz on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for bowing out of a debate next week in Salt Lake City, and the Texas senator vowed to call out the GOP front-runner at a gathering of a major pro-Israel lobby group next week.

Trump said earlier in the day that he would not participate in the Fox News debate in Utah on Monday, and John Kasich quickly said that he wouldn't attend if Trump didn't. Later on Wednesday, Fox News formally canceled the event.

Trump said he would use his time instead on Monday to address a conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the prominent pro-Israel group. Cruz's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Cruz would use his time at the same conference to "highlight Trump's positions -- or lack thereof -- in front of the thousands of AIPAC members in attendance."

"Let's be intellectually honest about what's going on here -- Donald Trump is scared to debate Ted Cruz next week,"

Tentively that did give the delegate out. I guess waiting for the recount. It was exceptionally close.

I don’t think you’re alone.

I’ve not been a big fan of his. This surprised me.

I thought he was a Constitutional Scholar.

Evidently not.

In reverse order:

2. Trump is not a true conservative politically, at least not a “conservative movement” conservative.

1. Since immediately before the IA caucuses, Cruz has behaved abysmally. Shamefully. My first concern, prior to that time, was his hiring the slimeball Jeff Roe. As a result of that affiliation, Cruz has developed slimy tactics, he’s embellished and exaggerated and seems to have woven stories out of thin air.

Conservatives are, or I like to think they are, far more honorable than Sen. Cruz has been for the past several months. While I think it’s possible, however remotely, for Sen. Rubio to redeem himself and have a political future, I don’t think that holds true for Sen. Cruz. Sen. Rubio has at least acknowledged he’s acted abysmally, embarrassing his wife and daughters and supporters. I’m not sure Sen. Cruz is capable of that kind of objective self-assessment.

There will only be a recount if Ted requests one.

I’m not sure how long he has. They may be waiting for him to decide if he wants to challenge or not.

At best it would be worth 22 delegates if he were to prevail upon the request.

That would however be a 44 point flip.

He would go up 22 and Trump would go down 22, bringing them 44 points closer.

For sure! I know plenty of Democrats in my state voting for Trump. And he will be easier to take down in the general. He has so much baggage. The media will turn on him big time. He won’t be a happy camper.

In color!

Not much reason to say anything more, except how does this guy think he wins the general, when that entire swath would rather have a new Yorker, a yankee, rather than his down home, constitutional studied and learned self.

Cruz is wrong to criticize Trump over this. If Trump had a prior engagement, he was right to keep that. As reported (and this may not be true), the debate was announced without coordinating the date with the candidates - an error by Fox News.

Please relieve me of your holier than thou platitudes.

You didn’t like Cruz before Iowa, and you don’t like him now. His “tactics” have had no impact on your opinion about him. And your assumptions about his tactics are erroneous.

Obviously, Trump can do no wrong, and he is Saint Donald to you. You have no problem with his character assassination of candidates though, do you? You also have no problem with his duplicitous views, which go from conservative to liberal to conservative again in the same conversation.

At least be honest about how you view things from your perception of “character”.

Its not name calling. When you cheat with false flyers that look like some sort of voter violation, when you say your uber conservative but ask for a 500 percent increase in work visas for foreigners over Americans, when you attack Trump for speaking and encouraging violence while fellow conservative republicans are being attacked and robbed in Chicago.....well you deserve to be called what you are....back stabbing untrustworthy talker not walker.

If Cruz tries to turn the Israeli Conference into a debate he will be making A. BIG. MISTAKE.

I say let him go for it, his smugness will shine through for those who somehow missed it these past couple months.

Dumb call on his part, but being under the umbrella of a Bush now, I don’t expect anything resembling class to come from that camp.

I’d say the same thing - for the same reason Trump gave - a chess player never advertises his sixth move.

A winner doesn’t poison the well before sitting down to drink. Most of us realize this is probably the last time the US will be able to influence the Palis. The UN is looking to take that role - and the UN is not friendly to Israel - as the recent UN built settlements demonstrate. We need a way in, and fast. Trump’s ‘impartial broker’ comment, might just be that way; whereas ultimatums have always led to a blind alley with Pali because, as Cruz should know, there’s no way for the US to enforce a single one.

I agree and pray right along with you.

I don’t like seeing the nastiness on both sides.

I pray we can all unite when it is time to fight against Hillary.

I am praying each side, Cruz and Trump supporters will forgive each other and come together to fight for this country.

BECAUSE... IT IS THIS COUNTRY we are fighting for.

That's NOT the answer to my question. So shall we try this again?

You claim to be a Christian who believes in the Bible.

What...you don't believe in GOD?

Okay...we'll leave that matter for another time. As Christian, do you actually BELONG to an established SECT of Christianity? If so, pick one of the following or add one that was left out:

You are a 1)Roman Catholic 2)Greek Orthodox 3)Russian Orthodox 4)Anglican 5)Episcopalian 6)Methodist-Episcopalian 7)Methodist 8)Presbyterian 9)Congregationalist 10)Lutheran 11)Dutch Reformed 11)Moravian 12)Baptist 13) Southern Baptist 15)Nazarene 16) Amish 17)Mennonite 18)Assemblies of GOD 19)Seventh Day Adventist 20)Quaker 21)Shaker 22) one of the myriad if Evangelical something-or others 23) Church of GOD 24)Pentecostal 25) something I missed ?

Just post back a number.

I stopped watching Fox after the first debate. It was such a sophomoric spectacle. I was absolutely stunned.
I get my debate news via the internet.
