Should Cruz drop out?
I want to throw that question out in a thread for discussion.
I say yes.
Yes because the RNC strategy is to run out the clock and hit the convention without a winner.
They think splitting the vote is their best strategy to dilute Trump's delegate count over the rest of the primary.
I say let the RNC really have it their way and make the rest of the primaries be a referendum on Trump or the RNC.
Their man Kasich vs Trump, one on one.
No one can say that is not fair and clear.
I think Cruz has been trying to get to a two-man race against The Donald, thinking he can win that, and results suggest maybe he can.
The question for Cruz is how deep is his donors pockets. Eventually you run out of other people’s money.
I don’t think Kasich will drop out.
The RNC seriously want Kasich to be the nominee.
Trump needs to win 55% of the remaining delegates to win outright, Cruz beats him in head to head and closed primaries. Trump is a craven showboat that refuses to debate real issues at any depth and has the highest negatives of any candidate in modern history. If Trump does not win a majority of delegates, Cruz can make a strong case that he ought to be the nominee. So absolutely no way should Cruz drop out.
After 10 months in the Senate, he decides he/s presidential timber.
Says a lot about the promises he made to his constituents as a Senate candidate.

Results don’t suggest that really. As contenders have dropped out, Trump’s win % has kept growing.
Can he win ? Then you have your answer.
He has no path unless Trump brings him in and given Cruz’s vulnerabilities VP might not be the best spot.
As long as he can win but if not its time to get out
Trump likes making deals...let’s see if he’s willing to make a win-win deal with Cruz. If he does, he’s got the nomination in the bag, the backing of the whole base, the GOPe totally out of the power loop, and he can really start going after Hillary! before she starts her campaign of personal destruction on him.

well at this point, if i were cruz (and i’m as anti-uniparty as the come), i’d endorse trump, pan kasich as gope to the core, and get out.
but to paraphrase a famous debate quote, clearly i don’t know cruz, and i’m no ted cruz.
In the general, Trump will tie Hillary to the establishment and highlight the corruption, back room deals, and other aspects of Hillary. In fact, he'll say that he once backed her but the reality is she is a major failure - thus his idea to run.

I don’t think so. They don’t think they can beat Trump one on one.
No way. He is in second. And you never know what can happen. Everything from Trump having a heart attack to having an Howard Dean moment could change things. It isn’t like he has Jeb’s numbers.

I’d like to see Trump/ Cruz.
I think that is the thing to do if we want to win in the general.

No, Kasich should drop out. Why the heck would Cruz drop out before Kasich when he has far more delegates?
