Question for discussion - Should Cruz Drop Out?
3/16/16 | Self (vanity question to Freepers)

Posted on 03/16/2016 12:25:38 PM PDT by ifinnegan

Should Cruz drop out?

I want to throw that question out in a thread for discussion.

I say yes.

Yes because the RNC strategy is to run out the clock and hit the convention without a winner.

They think splitting the vote is their best strategy to dilute Trump's delegate count over the rest of the primary.

I say let the RNC really have it their way and make the rest of the primaries be a referendum on Trump or the RNC.

Their man Kasich vs Trump, one on one.

No one can say that is not fair and clear.

If you believe that bullshit

So Cruz called legalization of illegals "common sense" immigration reform, but then denies ever supporting legalization of illegals. If you believe Cruz isn't a lying, you shouldn't be voting.

Trump only won 39% of the popular vote so far. And polls seem to show almost all of the other 61% would pick anyone else over him in a 2-man-race.

You do realize that Richard Nathan Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, is Trump’s chief advisor on foreign policy, don’t you?

He sealed his records?

How? Why?

It is a well known fact he was born in Calgary, Canada, to a Cuban citizen father and an American citizen mother.

So, the only thing needing to be defined is whether or not having only one parent as an American, and being born physically in another country, is enough to be a Natural Born Citizen?

This started with 17 candidates and up until yesterday included a minimum of 4 candidates in every primary/caucus. With that being said, Trump’s “39%” is damn impressive. Also keep in mind that most of the primaries thus far have been played in states that weren’t necessarily favorable Trump states. Trump is now moving to more favorable territory and his numbers will continue to grow.

Ted Cruz on the other hand has his best states behind him. Politically he’s a dead man walking.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda .....

WON’T

Teddy Milhous is all about the power. He’ll hang on with his fingernails until there is absolutely no way he can win. That day is coming soon, but he won’t go before then.

I don’t really want him to get out. Every day he sticks around pursuing this fool’s errand is one more day he’s burning his campaign money stash. Money he’ll need for his primary challenge in 2018. And it’s also one more day that the uniparty can’t coalesce behind one anti-Trump candidate.

So you GO Teddy Milhous! You show us how it’s done! You da man! Don’t let anyone tell you this can’t be won!

Even if it can’t be.

If he is not eligible for the office of Pres he is not eligible for VP.

Cruz should have gotten a SCOTUS opinion but I doubt it would find for him.

My end-game scenario for several weeks now:

Trump and Cruz make a deal for Cruz to drop-out and run as Trump's VP. The Trump/Cruz ticket steamrolls over Kasich to the convention with Trump picking up the requisite 1,237 needed to pick up the big prize in Cleveland.

So Trump and Cruz beat Hillary in November with consolidated Republican support. Trump wins the presidency and Cruz gets the VP slot which is next in line for the big show.

But how does Trump get Cruz to quit for the second-fiddle VP position? To get Cruz to drop out, Trump offers him an even bigger carrot than just VP or, for that matter, president.

Cruz is only in the VP slot only until after they are elected and in office, when what is the first item on Trump's agenda as the new president? That's right. Fill the Supreme Court spot left open by Scalia's passing with a very conservative, constitutionalist justice. Gee, and just who might that be?

Trump nominates Ted Cruz for SC Justice and replaces him with someone else in the VP slot. Cruz isn't going to make it to the nomination for president and doesn't want to be V.P. anyway. And he probably doesn't want to go back to the Senate again either. He would make a great, conservative justice. A perfect place for him for the remainder of his career, not the presidency or the vice presidency or the Senate.

A win-win-win situation for both men. So what's the 3rd win for, you ask? Well, the conservatives get their conservative, constitutionalist advocate in the SCOTUS. Only losers in this are Kasich and the GOPe. Gee, and my heart weeps.....

I was convinced just being born in Canada was no big deal until I did a little research and discovered the the Cruz family had lived in Canada for 3 years. They owned and operated a business there. The Cruz’s left and moved to the states when Ted was 4 yrs old. It has been rumored that while in Canada, his mother participated in Canadian elections. His father became a naturalized Canadian citizen in 1973 and a US citizen in 2005. Now, if Ted isn’t natural born and was never naturalized, he may well be here illegally.

I think the whole thing needs to be settled. Even if Cruz were to become Trump’s VP choice, the Democrats are going to make hay with this prior to the election. It doesn’t matter then what the truth is because the Democrats and their lapdog media don’t care about the truth. I would rather not give them this issue.

Why are people so comfortable with not knowing?

I don’t see how depriving Ted Cruz of delegates slow Trump down a all.

“Nope. He speaks for me.”

This is exactly why Cruz should not drop out at this point in time. I am a Trump supporter, however we need to bring our people together (not necessarily the top establishment) again. We cannot do that until one or the other candidate is reasonably beaten fairly by election by the people. To prematurely end it for either candidate would be ruinous for our chances in the fall. I am not saying we have to go to the convention, but if one or the other (more likely Trump at this point) shows he is very strong by the votes he gets...and when/if Cruz sees that he cannot win then perhaps we talk about him dropping out. There is still time. We will know within six weeks from now...May...

And you most certainly have that one brain cell. Apparently you and your ilk don’t want Cruz supporters’ help or votes so take your one cell and put it where the sun don’t shine.
