If Cruz were smart he would get Donald to agree to appoint him to the Supreme Court if he gives up.

Considering Cruz supported the Dread Pirate John Roberts including writing a WSJ op-ed to promote him, Cruz could NOT be trusted as a Constitutional jurist.

+1 What you said, and don't worry, he won't.

There are other deals Trump could make with Cruz that Cruz will take, that don't require anyone to rationalize some sort of reconciliation between the NBC clause and Cruz's uh, problems on that point.

Jan Brewer, OTOH, might be worth a look as VP and so far as any of us know, she's qualified to the office.

“If I were Cruz, not sure why I would take the job unless it had serious policy decision-making responsibility”

Because if they don’t join forces before the convention the GOPe insiders will choose the candidate and it won’t be Trump or Cruz.

No, that’s chief of staff stuff. I don’t know if Newt can subordinate himself enough to be chief of staff.

This will be the nail in the GOPe coffin.
    It is logical.
  1. It precludes nonsense about brokered convention.
  2. It allows both to pivot and run against Hillary.
  3. It allows PACs to save money for the general.
  4. It brings in those who were most popular with voters, not pundits.
  5. It is forced on them by necessity, so it gives each room to appeal outside the sphere of the running mate; good cop, bad cop to respective audiences.
  6. It takes away any excuse for conservatives to stay home
  7. It gives Cruz (and America ...) a future.

Oh, crap. VP has no influence or power over anything.

He gets to attend many neat funerals.
Not wishing them bad, but it seems likely that one, if not both, Clintons are not going to make the next 8 years (visually, and audibly, they just seem to be in ill health). This is also probably the case for George the First, and Jimmy Carter.
And of course he'll have the opportunity to attend the oft anticipated funeral/death of Fidel. He might even have a chance to dance a jig on his grave.

Trump intensely dislikes liars

No, Trump dislikes incompetence. Lying is okay as long as you're competent at it. Cruz being born in Canada is a real problem that hasn't been addressed. Don't think Trump is going to touch Cruz with a 10' poll and this is probably a Trump psyops to pressure Kasich into VP. For the good of the Party though, Trump needs to pick somebody young enough to be able to mount a legitimate campaign in 2024 and ideologically similar and not end up like Dan Quayle.

If the American people want to take back their country, then the politically savvy move would be for Cruz to join Trump. What is the other alternative people? I do not want to see that ugly, nasty, lying, POS socialist SeeYouNextTuesday be president.

Trump’s popularity is an indication that voters are really sick and tired of the GOP-e and their inept leadership. What do we have after the GOP took over the house and senate? Obamacare was never defunded. Planned Parenthood was not defunded. No impeachment was started against the Kenyan bastard. Nothing has been done to help our country.

I have worked in local politics for a while now. As disgusting as it may seem to many of you, sometimes a candidate has to align with people that the candidate may not want to. It comes down to access to money, voter block support and the resources to get out the vote. I cannot condemn Cruz for signing on Neil Bush. Candidates need tons of money to win. I don’t like it, but this is the cold, hard truth.

The bigger picture is defeating Hillary. There is no perfect candidate. Would Trump be an improvement over what we have now? Absolutely. Would Cruz be an improvement over what we have now? Absolutely. Rubio was a puppet who was bought and paid for by the GOP-e. Voters in FL were smart enough to see that. Kasich is a drunk and completely unhinged. I used to like him when he had his show on Fox, but that was when I thought Fox was ‘fair and balanced’.

We need to stop fighting among ourselves and keep our eyes on the big picture—winning back the White House. We are all burnt out, stressed, pissed off, hurt and feel betrayed by what Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, Ryan, John Roberts, McCain, and the list goes on, have done to us with their lying, pandering, cowardice, and lack of leadership.

Our country is what is most important.

I have repeatedly said that’s a nothingburger. This is politics. Kiss and make up.

Whether this is real or not, who knows?

I’d rather see him bump Leahy AND Goodlatte for head of the Judiciary Committee.

I said this before. I dont like Cruz but take him as your vp, then take the oath and immediately send him his nomination. If he gets borked, that is his own doing. Trump can then be elected and choose whomever he wants as vp baggage or no.

I would like Allen West and Ted Cruz named to the supremes.

A qualified black conservative woman would shut a lot of people up.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t choose Opra.

Wasn't he supposedly secretly negotiating with Rubio for the VP slot pre-Tuesday?

Yes Cruz but not for the VP slot. Let Cruz get out of the race and then vigorously campaign for and with Trump. Strategically Trump doesn’t need Cruz to win TX. I’d be glad if he picked Herman Cain as VP and Newt as chief of staff.
Christie as AG, Carson for Surgeon General or Education and Cruz for a SCOTUS seat— a better reward than VP IMO for Ted.
