Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.
Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.
“It’s also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is disloyal and must be punished,” Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.
“The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that I’m interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers,” Mr. Cruz said.

I’ve been a loyal Cruz supporter up until now but this is too much. These are not protesters but violent disruptors. If Cruz is gonna take their side then I’m going over to the Trump camp.

My Mom was leaning toward Cruz at various points and was undecided. All of this has now put her firmly in the Trump camp.
If they break the law, which nearly every protester does, then yes they should be punished. The fact that folks let these fools get away with this crap without punishment for decades is part of the damned problem.

If Cruz ever had a rally with large attendance, he might understand .. and if by some totally remote possibility he won the GOP nomination, these same attacks against him would start up quicker than you can say “unprincipled conservative.”
