During a recent campaign event, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders shed some light on his plans for the trucking industry.
In the short clip, which can seen above, Sanders promised to do great things if elected president, including creating a state of the art rail system which takes trucks off the road.
The crowd at the event responded with thunderous applause.
Several drivers immediately contacted us, expressing concern over the statements. This guy has to be stopped said one reader.
What do you think?
Is it political rhetoric used to excite uninformed followers, or will the trucking industry be significantly downsized under a Sanders presidency? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook and in the comments below.

State of the art, a rail siding to every store and factory. No matter, global warming will flood the roads anyway. Besides, why do we need roads. Over 1,000 comments at the site.

Typical Dem, typical politician really, who thinks he knows more about any subject in the world than the people who work at it.

Pretty sure that Rubio has a better chance of being nominated that Sanders... Though it might behoove Sanders to attend the GOP convention; the anyone but Trump crowd might hand Sanders the nomination.

A well integrated supply system needs trains and trucks ... and boats and airplanes.
It is ridiculous to propose that one of these forms of transportation should be eliminated. It shows that he doesn’t understand transport systems.
The market is pretty good at deciding when to go rail, when truck, etc. It is all based on efficiency and cost.

What is it with democrats and their obsession with trains? Perhaps there will be special lines to transport people to special camps

How is he going to ship us to the right concentration camp rail point without trucks? Out here in flyover country thousands will die trying to build enough railways to get us there. He must be crazy.

I don’t think the teamsters union is going to go Dem this year....

No worry, Bernie will introduce the cargo bike so that Americans, like other people living under socialism, can use bikes instead of cars and trucks. America's truckers can pedal bikes, like they do in socialist paradises like China, Cuba, North Korea, etc.

Sanders promised to do great things if elected president, including creating a state of the art rail system which takes trucks off the road. Such a system would be akin to recreating the Interstate Highway system which today would be nearly impossible.
The environmental impact statement alone would take two or three decades to prepare and approve. The cost of the study would probably get close to a billions dollars.
If such a project is approved by congress it will amount to nothing more than a make work project for environmental engineers and lawyers.
