CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday blamed organized "thugs" for protests that shut down his Chicago rally and said the incident had "energized America."

Trump, who will be at a campaign rally in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday, canceled the Chicago event on Friday after it turned chaotic, with scuffles breaking out between protesters and backers of the real estate magnate.

"The organized group of people, many of them thugs, who shut down our First Amendment rights in Chicago, have totally energized America!" Trump said on Twitter.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects freedom of speech and assembly. The Chicago rally came ahead of five primary elections on Tuesday, including contests in Ohio and Illinois.

My sweetie had to work late last night and he was 5 mins from the UIC campus.

He called and let out a string of expletives that would make your hair fall out. (He is in the Trump Closet and can’t say a word, due to professional & personal matters.) This is not a man who swears much.

The rioters did not go home after their “victory” rather they spread throughout the city. He said he had to stay in his office 90 minutes. The Bulls were playing at home and the fans were delayed from leaving the game due to the disruptions. I had to leave for work, but caught up on events once I got home:

Something tells me this is good for a couple points in the polls for Trump.

At other times, he DID tell his supporters to commit violence against protesters.

I suppose for daring to campaign and not caving to the PC crowd.

Ferguson/Baltimore showed what 50 years of Democrat policies had done to blacks; if they can’t learn from that, then they never will.

The past eight years have re-directed the focus from assimilating blacks into society and the workforce to simply providing them a middle class standard of living for nothing solely because they are black (and Hispanics are signing on to this new “entitlement” en masse).

I have no idea what the hell Cruz/Rubio/Kasich hope to accomplish by blaming Trump for the communist agitators who turned out to riot at his campaign rally. It’s like they collectively gave up on the concepts of both the first amendment AND personal responsibility.

Cruz blamed the protesters before Trump blamed them.
******
Not so. Trump was live on the phone on Greta’s show long before Ted made any statements.

I thought Cruz was first. If I am wrong about the timing, I apologize. But they BOTH blamed the protesters.

When I read that to MrR, it was enough to make him want to throw a punch and he is much less volatile than I am.

This is what he said:

“I also want to mention something about the events this evening in Chicago. This is a sad day. Political discourse should occur in this country without a threat of violence without anger and rage and hatred directed at each other. We need to learn to have disagreements without being disagreeable, to have disagreements while being respecting human beings on the other side.

“Earlier today over thirty people were arrested at one rally. And then tonight as violence broke out the rally was canceled altogether. Now, the responsibility for that lies with protesters who took violence into their own hands. But in any campaign responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of the campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that’s facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord.”

Good point; many blacks (and more and more so, young whites) want money and material goods, not jobs.

Gosh, who would have thought that ‘thugs’ would be openly used by a presidential candidate as a codeword for ‘AnswerChicago, MoveOn.org, supporters of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton’?

I can easily imagine a nice video made: Image of AnswerChicago’s protest signs, voiceover: These people don’t believe in freedom, (image of protester holding Bernie Sanders sign) that ‘freedom of speech’ means you must only hear their words, (image of protester holding MoveOn.org sign) that only their opinion matters. That all candidates are so afraid of actually offering you a choice this election (images of Cruz, Rubio, Kunich, Hillary, and Sanders) that they’ve given their stamp of approval to shutting down speeches (popping text of candidate statements blaming Chicago on Trump). (video closing by Trump) I want to make America great again. This election day, make your reply to them loud and clear: we’re not going to be silenced.

The left is upset at Trump and have been calling him a racist, fascist and a Nazi, while the main group behind these protests was founded by a convicted felon and Nazi collaborator ... That about sum it up.... Within the breast of every liberal beats the heart of a brownshirt....

Oh and Ted Cruz can now kiss my a-’’

I would not be surprised to find that the American "elites" have ordered step two in their drive to stop Trump.(Step two being mob action.) Step one a massive smear campaign has not worked. Step three if mob action does not work will be the ordering of Trumps assassination.

Closer ever closer comes the Social War.
