I do. 18 is bad enough.

Why no 15, 12, 8?

Why have rules if every rule seems to have an exemption, exception, subsidy, exclusion, immunity or may/may not be enforced at will?

Making the rules is what keeps Congresscritters and Senators employed. Deciding who/what gets the exemption, exception, subsidy, exclusion and/or immunity is how they make their fortunes.

I think he should be able to drink too, especially if he goes to a bar before he’s old enough to drink.

Why no 15, 12, 8?

Because they wouldn't be 18 when the general election is held.

No it doesn’t.

It says if you are 18 or older, you cannot be denied on the basis of age.

18 months is not 18 years of age or older.

Look, democrats already heavily rely on the high school dropout vote in most major cities. It’s only a natural evolution that once you seek to include the most stupid, you’d look next toward including the clueless and then the nearly clueless.

18 is the age, not 18 in 8 mos.

What a fabulous idea! As children become less and less mentally and emotionally mature and independent at any age (not just my opinion - scientifically proven), let’s lower the voting age.

This Country Is Going To Hell, example 174,323.

Why not let 2 year olds vote? Hand them a crayola and a ballot.

This has been law in Ohio since 1981. The law is extremely clear

Read it carefully. It does not bar a state from lowering the age below 18. It only bars the government from disallowing an 18 year old to vote. It would not stop a state from allowing an 18 month the vote.

18 months is not 18 years of age or older.

Of course, so an 18 month old could be denied the right to vote by the state. However, since elections are run by the states and not the Feds, an 18 month old could be granted so long as the state allows it.

. Young Ohio voters can decide on congressional, legislative and mayoral contenders, but they can’t vote on ballot issues or candidates for a political party’s governing body.

False and I can’t believe the # of people unwilling to cite and read the exact law! It’s been law since 81!

Not in Ohio. Every state has their own election laws.

We should have a National Voting Age of 25, no exceptions.

People need to experience life's journey as an adult before they make voting decisions for the rest of us.

Got a better idea. Ever read Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers?

No right to vote without citizenship. No citizenship without serving at least 2 years in the military. Also don't get government benefits without being a citizen. Obviously no elected officials who aren't citizens. Everyone else is simply a civilian.

Heinlein envisioned a society where the citizens - the ones who'd proven they were responsible members of society - were the leadership. Not fresh-faced kids or welfare queens.
