Washington (CNN)Donald Trump is leading two of his Republican presidential rivals in their home states, topping Sen. Marco Rubio in Florida and Gov. John Kasich in Ohio, new CNN/ORC polls show.
Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is far ahead of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in both states.
In Ohio, Trump holds 41% to Kasich's 35%, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in third at 15% and Rubio in fourth with 7%.
And in Florida, Trump holds 40% to Rubio's 24%, with Cruz at 19% and Kasich at 5%.
The results come less than a week from the March 15 contests in Florida and Ohio, as well as Illinois, North Carolina and Missouri. The primaries in 99-delegate Florida and 66-delegate Ohio are particularly critical for Republicans, since both are winner-take-all.

Trump also leads Ohio in the Real Clear Politics average
GO TRUMP!!
Kasich the socialist said if he doesn’t win Ohio, his home state he will leave the state
GO TRUMP!!!
Ohio is way to close. Trump needs to get in to the double digits to ensure victory. Ohio would definitely help to hit the majority of delegates before the election, but Trump would still be on track without it. The other three have no shot.
I agree. Kasich owns the apparatus of this state.
Expect huge vote holdouts until the last minute out of central Ohio.
A vote for Cruz is a vote for a brokered convention. We will get Romney not Trump not Cruz.
Rove has joined the Romney tactic of strategic voting, encouraging Cruz voters to back Kasich in OH and Marco in FL.
Could be an interesting week...
That is odd. I watched a snippet of the Today show this morning; they claimed Kaisch was leading Trump in the polls.
I think Cruz might do well in Missouri but I'm thinking Trump should easily win Illinois.
Three big pockets ... Columbus (central), Cincinnati (south), and the grand-daddy of them all, Cleveland.
My blood pressure keeps getting healthier as I read these projected poll numbers
Extra pre filled in ballots are already printed in case Kasich neefs them, voters don’t even need to show up for him.
1. Can the over-performing Cruz beat Fading-Marco for second place in Florida?
2. Can Trump hold off Kasich in Ohio? Can he beat him BIG?
We need both to happen. Exit Stage Left for Marco, Damaged-Goods Kasich and mano y mano to the end with our favorite candidates.
Just Like Cruz open borders Council of Foreign Relations ,TPP, Corker Bill and missed the vote to audit the Fed ( created in Jekyll Island , Ga next Island over is Sea Island where 54 Jets conspired to deny the people their candidate)
If Cruz Bots think these people like Ted or his Polices your kidding yourselves.
Most there hate Ted with a passion.
LIES!! Dana PeRino, Greg Gutfeld, and the rest of the Fox News GOPe were having orgasms yesterday over the NBC/WSJ Poll showing Trump losing Ohio to that wonderful and fantastic conservative, John Kasich!
Kasich is “Presidential” and the bestest Governor ever! Kasich will STOP TRUMP! This poll is a LIE!
I’m in IL and Trump has polled well here. We elected a Republican governor to try to break the Democrat stranglehold but the Democrat legislature has held out since last summer refusing to approve a budget in return for his reforms, and people are really getting angry about it. So Trump’s message should resonate with the downstate Red Illinois.
There’s a Fox poll showing the opposite. While it’s entirely possible that one poll is better than the other, the average of all recent polls still favors Trump.
Going into the Fox poll on Ohio, I found they under sampled the younger, the poorer, and the catholic. The margin of error on those groups was 2 to 3 times (7-8%) what the overall MOE was for the entire poll. I consider that to be very odd.
